Some stuff coming out on DVD next month I haven't seen yet, but plan on checking out…
- Dec. 26
Dark Water (Unrated)
I avoided this when it was in the theatre because of the PG 13 rating and I've grown tiresome over the American remakes of Japanese horror films. My expectations are really low, but I guess the unrated DVD will be worth checking out.
2046
Another one I skipped on the theatrical release. I think it played downtown west sometime this summer. Looks like an interesting but sleepy futuristic Hong Kong sci-fi drama.

The Cave
I ignored this when it was in the theatre as if it didn't even exist. PG 13 and pretty much plotless from what I've heard. I'll probably just end up renting it for the special effects though.

Red Eye
Didn't see this one in the theatre, although debated on doing so. Wes Craven is always hit or miss. This looks like it has potential though. A political thriller rather than Craven's typical horror. I'll definitely give it a rent.
The Constant Gardener
A co-worker suggested I would like this one, and says it's a political thriller that is definitely meant to make a statement, and says it's a very "different" kind of movie… I know that sounds pretty vague, and not sure what the statement is, but will see...
Plot Outline: "A widower is determined to get to the bottom of a potentially explosive secret involving his wife's murder, big business, and corporate corruption."
Eraser Head
This one I've seen, but thought I would post it here anyway, as I plan on buying it. I've been waiting for this for almost a decade. I've had a VHS copy from Japanese laserdisc for years. Lynch has been selling it on DVD on his website for a while, but it has not seen commercial release since the early 80s. If you haven't seen it, I would defiantly recommend picking it up. It’s David Lynch's first feature film, and the inspiration of countless industrial music videos, and movies such as 'Tetsuo". It has to be one of the creepiest movies of all time.
It will be released with his old short films on the same day. They include: The Amputee, Six Men Getting Sick, The Grandmother and The Alphabet.
The Chumscrubber
The IMDB describes this as "A darkly satiric story about life crumbling in the midst of a seemingly idyllic suburbia." Hmmm….

Lord of War
Lord of War
Nicholas Cage plays a Ukrainian arms dealer who confronts the morality of his work as he is being chased by Interpol Agent Jack Valentine played by Ethan Hawke. I'm a sucker for gritty war type movie like this, so I'll rent it.
Venom
Plot Outline: "A pack of teenagers run for their lives through the swamps of Louisiana, as they are chased by Mr. Jangles, a man possessed by 13 evil souls who is relentless in his pursuit of new victims."
Oooh, please Mr. Jangles, don't hurt em!

Flight Plan
Jodie Foster lost her daughter on a plane *gasp*! Wait, she didn't have a daughter in the first place, she crazy *gasp*! Or did she!!! *gasp*!
Meh, I'll rent this just because the only other thing remotely worth renting that week is the remake of "The Fog".
