Gothic Atheist Association, anyone?

Hey, if the xians are going to have a goth church, maybe the atheists (note the small "a" - atheism is NOT a religion, it's the lack of religion) on here should form an association.

This thread is just a reminder, really. Not everyone here is religious, and some of us are emphatically not interested in joining any sort of church.

The goth community has always been one where religion has been an insignificant part of why people came together, and where people of any religion or lack thereof have been accepted and welcomed.

Don't screw that up.

Just one question. What does an atheist assosiation talk about at its meetings. I personally don't have a god figure, so I could even do this too. And as JC so aptly pointed out metaphysics has nothing to do with religion, but everything to do with reality mechanics.

we talk about how we are going to continue ruining America , corrupting the youth, do drugs, have premarital sex, think for ourselves, run red lights, trip old ladies down the stairs, and worship Satan because you know, atheists are really just corrupted by the devil.

I think denying there is a creator is having the same sort of blind faith Xtians do...saying "there is no god" is kind of egotistical, because how the hell could any of us really know...

I prefer Agnostic, or NonTheist.

i am not an athiest, more agnostic, but without faith, how can you have blind faith?

Im not egotitistical I just don't believe there is a giant omnipotent omnipresent alien who is responsible for everything floating around somewhere in another dimension.

Here is something. Bare with me but what if "God" isn't even sentient? "God" has never spoken to me in he history of my existance, but I do tend to see patterns in how things happen and it always amazes me that when I focus/pray/meditate on something then it usually happens. None of this has proven that "god" is taking an active part in my life, but it does tell me that there is something more than my current understanding.

Well, just for the record, if folks who are Goth and Christian decide to get together once in awhile to worship together, this doesn't require that everybody else do it, nor that these same peole are going to all of sudden stop associating with their friends that may not share the same interests....so really, whats to get screwed up?

If you want to form an athiest society/discussion group, more power to you. By all means do. I won't be there not because I don't like ya, but just cuz I'm not an athiest and I would start yawning and become become really sleepy in short order...basically a real drag on your group... lol
