Fairly Proud of Nickelodeon

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

Fairly Proud of Nickelodeon

Post by Bigun »

To some of you, this may be old news, but...

One of Nickelodeon's cartoons they've created (Danny Phantom) features a "Goth" girl (Samantha "Sam" Manson) as one of the main characters. It may just be me, but I applaud the progression of some form of dark movement among the young. After watching a bit of it, she even "acts" somewhat like a goth. Snappy wit and all.

Or am I just fooling myself?

Depends on your definition of "what is goth" which WE WILL NOT GET INTO. Haven't seen the series but then I tend to find most modern American animation to be complete CRAP. But that's just personal opinion, reading the wikipedia they say she seems more Greenpeace then goth but I've known quite a few vegan goths that are more nature-oriented with their political stance then naught.
Oh sad is the world. but I have Kavorkian's scarf.

On Cartoon Network theres a show called Juniper Lee with a goth chick in it. Also on Teen Titans Raven is gothy. Then theres some shows on Adult Swim with goth chicks on them Like Venture Bros. and Stoker and Hoop.
Don't knock on Deaths door. Ring the doorbell and run away (he hates
that).

Yeah, I've seen Teen Titans, Raven is very gothlike. But Danny Phantom was the first I really think aired and aimed at a much younger crowd.

"Archie comics discover goth subculture
A recent Archie comic contains a story called "She's Goth to Have It" in which Betty throws off her preppie look for a goth lifestyle of chai-sipping and black-wearing and book-reading

Wow...I didn't know Chai was goth...I feel as if my goth card deserves stamping...

Anyways, you do know the kind of people that draw cartoons, and comics right? I mean shit...almost every "goth" kid I know has some collection of either drawings, or really bad poetry...Myself included...

Why is it a shock that they try to slip one in every now and then, and for once they were successful? Plus, Nick hosted "Are you Afraid of the Dark?"...for several years, and let's not forget the dusgusting classic..."Ren & Stimpy."

Just saying that I don't find this that big of a deal...

Now Meirs giving up her nomination to the Supreme Court...Big deal.

I don't know if I should be thankful or not, but I don't think that they have a plugin to support whatever that page does in Linux.
