(copied from my blog)
The VMC (Volunteer Ministry Center) which our church works closely with, is becoming the central HQ for the refugees coming to the Knoxville area with referrals from Red Cross and others, and they are needing donations. Please everyone donate stuff!!!!!! Finally, this is a way to help for people who don't have money, but might have some old things laying around their house.
Things needed are:
Sheets- all sizes
pillows
blankets
towels/washclothes
simple pots and pans
can openers
disposable silverware
disposable plates, bowls, etc...
non-perishable food items - all kinds
shampoo
soap
deodorant
combs and brushes
Clothing- all kinds, practical, not dressy*
diapers- all sizes
baby formula- all kinds
baby food
baby wipes
feminine hygiene products
first aid supplies
toothbrushes & paste
stuffed animals for children
* Donated clothing should be clean and in usable condition.
Donations can either be brought to our church, which is Saint James Episcopal Church located on Broadway, or directly to the VMC which is located downtown if you happen to be an anti-church type. Or, alternatively, if you can get ahold of me in the next 24 hours, i will be taking down a load of stuff of ours tommorrow, so i would be willing to pick up other people's donations and take them down there as well.

UPDATE i just got word that VMC is no longer taking clothes as they now have more than they need. They are still needing household items and such though.

That would be great! Just let me know when and where to pick up what gets donated at Temple assuming you are unable to get it directly to the church.
Thanks a bunch!
