Actually, the story could be true.....
In the '70's they (private labs) were experimenting with replacing blood with fluid, freezing dogs, then "re-creating" life. One such beagle, the scientist's own dog, lived for 12 more years, in seemingly great health.
I don't think it's unlikely that we are doing it now. The mind/body connectionis really amazing. I mean, hell, my mom died on the table during a heart operation, and was "clinically" dead for a LONG time before they got her back.
I think the picture is fake, the story is real, but the "zombie" bit is shit.
I offer these points as proof against "zombie-fication"
3) My mom is not a zombie (that'd be sooo cool, though)
2) There was no virus involved (or anti-virus shots
)
And ..... (drumroll, please!)
1) "Down with the Sickness" was not playing while the dogs came back to life.
Therefore, Impossible.

Well I'll be damned. Apparently there is some truth to this after all. As kind of a joke I sent a letter last week to the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (P.E.T.A.), to see if they had any information on these kinds of experiments. They just responded today.
here is what I sent them:

Dear P.E.T.A.
I am utterly appalled in having stumbled upon this news article:
http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,15 ... 62,00.html
If U.S. Scientists are actually experimenting with dogs, killing them and then bringing them back to life there absolutely has to be something done to stop this.
Please let me know if this is something P.E.T.A. can help with and get the message out about this.
Thanks
~ Jake

Dear Jake,
Thank you for contacting PETA about the experiments on dogs taking place at the Safar Center for Resuscitation Research at the University of Pittsburgh.
These experiments, funded by the U.S. Navy, involve draining the blood from dogs for up to three hours and then filling their bodies with cold salt solution that lowers their body temperature to near freezing. The dead animals are then “reanimatedâ€

I'm a carnivore and I hate PETA, but this time I think it's warranted that they become involved.
And the picture is totally fake.
