Doctor Who fans: Let's have a meetup! :)

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

Doctor Who fans: Let's have a meetup! :)

Post by Synthpopalooza »

Hey gang ...

Any Doctor Who fans here? I've recently (thanks to a friend in Canada) come into possession of the first six episodes of the new Doctor Who series, plus I have recently acquired all sorts of goodies including some of the loose cannon reconstructions of incomplete Hartnell / Troughton stories.

I think it's high time we had another viewing party. Seeing as it's going to be a long time yet before the US gets to see the series, maybe we should all get together and have a watch. How about it?

By the way: The new series is awesome. Especially the "Dalek" episode. I swear by the end of that one you're almost feeling sorry for the little pepperpot.

If it's the Prisoner you want ... I have the DVD set of all 17 episodes (I think there were 17? dunno) ...

So anyway, I'll need to talk it over with the wife, so we can get the place in order, plus I gotta arrange for the time off work ... and I hope you guys don't mind a drive up to Union County ... or failing that, maybe we can meet somewhere closer?

Awww...You were actually watching those shows that Martin and I subjected you and JasonMason to!!!! See, these people should have known me then, well...mebbeee not. My obsession is sad.

The New show is fabelhaft!!!! Eccelston is a wonderful job. Though, the Docotr/Companion cemistry is a bit over the top for me.

"The Unquiet Dead" has to be the best so far. But, then again Mark Gatiss always has written good Who storys.

Though, I am very interest in David Tennent's 10th Doctor at the beginning of season 2.

I want cybermen dammit!

Absolutely, let's have Cybermen ... however, I wish to make a point:

In "Revenge of the Cybermen", Tom Baker's Doctor taunted the Cybermen by saying "You've no home planet, no influence, nothing ... you're just a bunch of pathetic tin soldiers" ...

He's right. With the exception of Earthshock and perhaps Attack of the Cybermen, every cyber-story that's been made since the Troughton era has portrayed the Cybermen as exactly what Tom Baker descibed above. I think, when they do come back, more attention needs to be paid to the fact that they desire to make humans into more Cybermen. A fate worse than death. Oh, and lose the Gold weakness. One pinch of gold dust and they turn tail and run! Wusses.

Oddly enough, I found the Cybermen in Hartnell's "The Tenth Planet" to be creepy, simply because they look more humanoid than the Cybermen in later stories. Even the sing-song voices they used were somewhat macabre, especially when they started screaming as they died.

Of course I was watching it sweet pea... except the time that annoying boi was attached to my hip. Anyways, your obsession is NOT sad by any means. Dr. Who makes me want to touch mahself.

"plaything of Sutekh"......I looove it when Sutekh calls The Doc that. It makes my butt jiggle.

And also when he finally rises out of his chair, and the hand that quickly moves out of the camera shot!!!!!

Yes that was very sad ... but I am betting that Doctor was wishing the whole time he HAD set off that bomb to kill the Daleks back when he was Tom Baker. ;)

I hear Rose may be leaving the show halfway through the next season ... and we're already getting another companion this season in the form of a Captain Jack Harkness, who will join up in "The Empty Child".

Doctor Who!

Post by SeeingI »

I'm all for a Doctor Who meetup. May I hereby offer my apartment for a possible video watching? It's in Oak Ridge, but spacious and well-equipped for media.

Also, I have all the episodes up to 12 & 13 on DVD!

Hmm, if episode 13 doesn't air in the UK until the 18th, how may I ask you acquired it?

OMFG...

I just got done watching "The Parting of the Ways."

Un.Freaking.Believable.

Goosebumps, I tell you! GOOOOOSEBUMPS!
The firemen came and broke through the chimney top. And me and Mom were expecting them to pull out a dead cat or a bird. And instead they pulled out my father. He was dressed in a Santa Claus suit. He'd been climbing down the chimney... his arms loaded with presents. He was gonna surprise us. He slipped and broke his neck. He died instantly. And that's how I found out there was no Santa Claus.
