I'm really looking forward to this one.
I'm not wicked. I'm just viciously mischievous.

i really hate to say this but its the truth:
Depp couldnt act his way of a paper bag. hes a horrible actor that is popular because women want to fuck him.
The originial candiate for wonka, as i recall from reading the originial press release about the movie from Tim Burton, was of all people Manson and i think my personal reservations about the man aside, he woulda been perfect for the role.
anyone but depp shit. im yet to see one effective role outta that guy.

I disagree. I do love Depp in pretty much anything. Fuckableness aside. But..........Manson would have been perfect.

Dude, I have to totally disagree, especially after seeing Depp pull off Hunter S. Thompson's character in "Fear and Loathing". It was uncanny. His performance as Edward D. Wood in "Ed Wood" was excellent. His roles as Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean" and Ichabod Crane in Tim Burton's "Sleepy Hollow" were both classic.
He has come a long way from his humble beginnings from "A Nightmare on Elm Street" to "21 Jump Street" and so on. The man has vintage.
Like it or not, and no matter if women just want to fuck him, he is one of the greatest actors of our time, and will go down as a film legend.
I have faith he can pull off Wonka, and with Bruton at the Helm, it can't really go wrong, but I'll keep reserved about the film until I see it.
Manson would have been interesting for the role... but think about it, can he really act outside of being the Antichrist Superstar? In retrospect of his small acting roles I just don't see it.

Now if we could only resurrect a middle-aged Vincent Price for the role of Wonka with Tim Burton Directing, now THAT would be perfection.

I just hope that they refrain from singing. That seems to me to have been part of the EXCELLENT Wilder adaptation, not an element of the book. Another biot of info, while watching the audio commentary from the Elfman brothers, Forbidden Zone, Danny said that he is doing Oompa Loompa vocals and score...Like there was ever any doubt as to who would score a Tim Burton movie

hmmm...
after having watched the trailer, I'm not so sure this was a great idea after all.
The theme song is just friggin' creepy, in a Chuck E. Cheese kind of way...
Jonny Depp is starting to show his age too.
Weird.
It's definitely going to take a lot of drugs to watch this one.

I'm with you Zeo. That trailer confirmed my worst fears. Too "wacky" (not) and colorful (garish even) for my tastes. I'll pass on this mess. And I do like Depp and Burton generally speaking, but this just does not set well with me.

When I saw the trailer I almost cried. I have been looking forward to this for such a long time. I was hoping creepy and darker. Not a visit to Chuck E Cheese. Even Depp looks bizarre and not in a good way. :-x

Please keep your hands and feet inside the car until it has come to a complete stop, and reserve all judgement until after you have seen the whole film. Teaser trailers are just that, teases.....

My two cents...
Duct tape is like 'The Force'. It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together.

I honestly agree with Junkie Manson would have made a better wonka this movie looks completely gay as fuck considering you can't remake a classic well I would understand it but Johnny Depp has made a career mistake ever since edward scissorhands in my oipinion that is the only good movie of his besides pirates of the carribean which is halfway decent
So I say thank you for the scars and all the guilt and the pain every tear i've never cried has sealed your fucking fate What did you take me for a fool? or were you just to blind to see that every effort made has failed and there is no destroying me

Have you even seen Ed Wood? Or Fear and Loathing? I highly suggest you watch these movies before you judge his career "mistakes."

In my opinion, he can pull off Wonka. It's the obnoxious kids that I'm worried about. Child actors have a tendency to fall flat, thus sabatoging the whole movie.
If she were a street gang, I'd go to war with her with bottles and chains.
