On the Draft.. What Does the Constitution say?

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

On the Draft.. What Does the Constitution say?

Post by Aubri Wolf »

Friends. I do not know how far our government has slipped from its Constitutional foundation, and I am no skilled representative of the Constitutional arts or the knowledge contained there in. However, I, while reading over it (while writing a letter to my congressman (you may go to http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/ to get e-mail access all the way up to the president) I suggest you write one as well, voice your opinion), found and interesting amendment that while not created exactly for the sole propose of dodging the draft, may be a key to refusing to join the military when (yes when not if) the draft takes effect..

This article is Amendment XIII – Slavery Abolished. It reads and I quote

1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

End Quote.

I may be TOTALLY mistaken, but if my government tells me I am to serve in the armed forces and I refuse, then they force me, that IS involuntary servitude.
Be safe all of you, power to the people, revolution, and what ever else one is meant to say in closing of the preceding documentation.

They fixed the slavery issue by giving you a check, but if your religion objects and you can prove it by supplying a doctorine of faith, contientious (sp?//) objection will work.
