If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

I need your creative input!

Hello, friendly gothic people..

I need help building a sound recording and playback system for my shower.

The idea is to have a little water proof console from which I can cue up backing tracks, patch in vocal effects, and begin recording on a remote computer, probably located in a closet in a nearby room. At some point I would like shoutcast capability of live audio and video of my shower performances. You can see my concept art for the console at http://cliphoster.com/showerconsole.jpg What kind of mic would work best for this, and also, how could I save it all from water and humidity? I would like to have the microphone handleable in the shower so that I can grip it and bounce around while singing. I also need info on water/humidity proof speakers. I don't know what kind of wattage I'm going to require, but I want an amplified mix of myself in the monitors. I am a single home owner and don't have to worry about sound levels too much.

I have a three piece cambridge soundworks pc speaker set that I am willing to experiment with for water proofing. It has two satellites and a crossover/subwoofer. I was thinking of dipping the whole mess in wax or something equally stupid and need you to give me a better idea.

For the console, I was thinking maybe I could build the whole it in like a shoe box or something, and fill it with silica gel packets that I've been saving for years from prescription medicine bottles for an occasion such as this. Then I could shrink wrap the box with one of those machines you see on late night television that suck all the air out and and hope the buttons still work afterwards.

ANY and ALL help greatly appreciated. I have about $25 to spend. I was joking about the last part. I can spend some dough, but I don't want to spend four grand on something that's going to probably get removed the next time I find myself in a temporary relationship with some nut job who doesn't want an isolation booth in our shower. You know, now that I mention that, if you're artistic and could help me think of a way of turning something like little shower frogs into speakers as they do at themed drive throughs, I could use your ideas on that as well.

All depends on how "hard" the water is there in Dallas.

There are plenty of water resistant speakers available for outdoor usage which "should" handle the humidity issues.

Your on your own for the rest as you are likely to get yourself electricuted trying to use such equipment with shower running which I gather is what you are asking to do.

However knowing how most people sing in the shower, that might be a good thing. Nothing like a little electricity to tighten those vocal chords.

Your clever use of the ip check button has put me on the cautious side and has thus thwarted future ridiculous threads. Good work, Bone. My existance was a test, and you passed.
