Whats next? Gay Concentration Camps?
I ripped this off my buddy Basim on LJ.

Bush Allows Gays to Be Fired for Being Gay
Despite President Bush's pledge that homosexuals "ought to have the same rights" as all other people, his Administration this week ruled that homosexuals can now be fired from the federal workforce because of their sexual orientation.
According to the Federal Times, the president's appointee at the Office of Special Counsel ruled that federal employees will now "have no recourse if they are fired or demoted simply for being gay." While the Bush Administration says it is legally prohibited from firing a person for their conduct, they have the legal right to fire or demote someone based on their sexual orientation. To carry out the directive, the White House has begun removing information from government websites about sexual orientation discrimination in the workplace.
Not only does the new directive contradict the president's own promise to treat homosexuals as equals under the law, but it also contradicts what the Administration told Congress. As noted in a bipartisan letter from four Senators to the Administration, "During the confirmation process [of the president's appointee], you assured us that you were committed to protecting federal employees against unlawful discrimination related to their sexual orientation."

How the hell are they going to prove the employee is Gay? Unless they have to fill out part of an application stating their sexual orientation, but that would be a total invasion of privacy. Considering the Patriot Act, what the hell is privacy anymore anyway?
This is fucking insane, and Bush has got to stop.....

Bush is a sick twisted freak of a madman, not even good enough to be worm food - but he is a little tough to get to these days. Why not start a little closer to home? Here's the names and addys of the Rhea County Commission that recently ruled that it was illegal to be gay in their little shit-burg. You can get their phone numbers via information. Go wild. Give those repressed losers the hell they deserve.

You've got the same dilemma as me.
I loathe Kerry, but Bush is just so awful, I'm almost willing to go with mediocrity. I probably won't decide whether I'm voting for Kerry or some random loonie third party candidate until election day, though.
But maybe Kerry's slogan should be "Vote for Mediocrity!"

Just remember a vote for anyone but Kerry will be, in effect a vote for Bush, and not voting will be, in effect a vote for Bush. People my not like the fact that we are in reality a two party system but thems the breaks no thrird party canidate is going to make it on a national scale because the truth is the majority of the country is moderate either dem. or rep. This is just how I see it though.
Space for rent.

You'll never convince me to vote for His Wishy-Washyness by using that tact. I don't buy into the 'we have 2 parties and that will never change' schtick! The reason we have the mess we have in the first place is EXACTLY because we have ONLY two parties. If it seems like our system is control by "special interests" and "big money" it is and the one of the reasons for that is that it's easy to buy out two parties. If we had a multi-party state, we wouldn't have many of the problems we have now.
The only way to develop a multi-party system is to force the two major parties to support it; and the only way to force the two major parties to support it, is to not support them unless they do support it.
Kerry is a part of the problem. Admittedly, he's not actively destroying the country and its reputation like Bush II has, but he doesn't want to change things either. His major ambition is to be President. He doesn't care about policy. He just follows polls because he thinks that's the way to win elections (just like all the people in the DLC do).
I'm not convinced that any of the Democratic candidates would've support proportional representation or Instant-Runoff Voting, but at least they gave me hope that someone was finally willing to stand up for issues that I believe in and that things could've started moving in the direction I would like to see them move in. I would've voted for Dean happily. I would've voted for Wesley Clark and been content. I would've even voted for Edwards and felt like there was a possibility that things could have changed for the better, but with Kerry, there is little hope unless America itself changes its mind.
Kerry is a poll-watcher. He is DLC Trash of the worst kind. He will never stand up for the causes that many of us believe in, because polls don't show they are popular causes at the moment. Gay marriage? Kerry doesn't support it. In fact, he has stated that he would support a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage "if it were worded in the right way." The only way to build support for things one believes in is to actively speak in favor of them, and Kerry will never do that. He's going to be wishy-washy and all that a Kerry Presidency will result in is larger GOP majorities in Congress and we'll end up with another GOP President who is just as bad as Bush in another 4 or 8 years.
So Kerry is not an easy sell for me. I have to be convinced that Bush II is so godawful, that it is impossible for someone worse to come along; and that I'm just not convinced of. After all, Reagan was re-elected a mere 20 years ago and his record was even worse than Bush's. The only difference was, Reagan was better at lying than Bush and he had the Soviet Union to keep him somewhat in-line.

On the whole marriage issue, in a move directly in opposition to our intelligent brethren in Rhea county. A county in Oregon under threat from that state's attorney general for it's plans to allow gay marriages has banned all marriages within the county until such time as the state makes a legal decision on the issue.
I wouldn't recommend harrassing the Rhea county commissioners at home, ultimately they're not that important. If you want to fight the possibility of same-sex marriages/civil unions/whatever-they're called being banned in this state, harrass the state and federal level elected officials.
Tennessee State Legislature
Track down your State Rep and Senator and wear out their Nashville office, since they're all up here. Besides, it'll give them something useful to do.

Look, I know the whole two party system sucks major ass, and for those of you who don't believe in it, it's a long ass shot for anyone else to get elected. I like Kerry for one reason, he was caught on tape, cursing the Bush adminstration for lying and stea;ling people's money. That was classic.

Yes, start with the state government officials. The first reading has passed the Senate for a state constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. It has since passed the first house committee.... It will next be read before the entire house for a vote. It will then need to be passed by next sessions house and senate by two/thrids again. Then it will be put before the people in a vote (exactly like the lottery).....
The power resides in the people..... Do nothing and we will know who to blame!!!!
Edit:
A Committee just killed a bill which would make the state not recognize gay-marriages from other states. This is actually great news.... Baby steps...

We don't elect anyone anyways.... fucking electoral college... fucking homophobes...
Ummm sweetheart... did you sleep through government? You elect the officials. They vote in the electorial college? Do you not know how the process works? That's how come there was such an isue in 2000. The vote from FL didn't follow the popualr vote. See here is the major problem with society today, people are uneducated in the workings of the government. Sure you caould argue either side until one of you died, but it has a ground that it is suposed to work by.

Actually, there is a point to what was said about the electoral college. The popular vote and the electoral college vote by definition are at odds because the dissenting voices in each state lose their aggregate power in the distillation process involved in the Electoral College. There's also the rule about 'native sons' that prevents states from casting their total votes for a candidate that was born there; something the popular vote doesn't reflect.
Also, in the event of the electoral college failing at their job, the vote goes to the House of Reps. George W. was elected by the Supreme Court, if you'll remember.
So, HOW exactly do you figure your vote counts for anything?
