Soldier shot in Iraq
One of Melanie's friends Brent has just been shot in Iraq. He is currently being treated in Germany for a shrapnel injury.
I've never met him but Melanie deems him as one of the most honerable and generous men she has known. He means a lot to several people up in Maryville.
Please hold him in your thoughts.

He is one of the most honest people ever. I love this boy dearly. He's my "big brother". Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
This was posted on my Xanga as well for anyone who cares to read it. I've linked the tiny snippet of a news article there as well.

BTW, Thanks CD for posting this. I didn't want to seem like I was drawing attention to myself

Our thoughts go out to him.
Yes, I have wished you were dead. You are just another face in the crowd, someone who brings me suffering, someone I truely hate.

Further update: The news so far, it also his his leg and his ear and for now, he has deafness in one ear. He did get to talk to his parents yesterday. They are going to fly him back to either D.C. or VA and then send him back to Ft. Polk. No word yet if he gets to come home to visit for a while. I hope he does though.

This is terribly wrong of me to say this but I wouldn't have any problem with them sending him home completely. I had one of those feelings from the beginning that something was going to happen and I do NOT want him sent back over there for something else to happy. I'm really thankful that it was just these injuries and not something much worse.

Just as long as the military takes care of him after his discharge ( if thet happens) then all the better... Don't think wrong on yourself you are only looking at the situation in total concern for his wellbeing.
I had a friend who just had a medical discharge from the army and well he is now fudged from 100% capibilties with his knees.. but that was prewar time..... i hope they take care of him for the post healing and post war syndrome.

Love can only be gained through pain and punishment.. thus being cherished and hated.

I hope so too. It turns out that he was supposed to be driving all that day but then one of the other soldiers with him wanted to drive and hadn't been able to so their sargeant told Brent to let the other guy drive. This was right before the attack. The driver who took over was killed. My heart goes out to his family but it scares me so much to think it could have been Brent. If they hadn't changed places, it would have been.....ugh....
btw, Aphrodite, I love your sig.
