If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

From my reading the 19th seems to be the halloween dig.

I understand that there will be a Halloween party at the new Fairbanks - but I don't have details yet. It's not going to be an official KnoxGothic party, as Bone and I will be in New Orleans (not sure if Arkady is going...)

We may be having a Day of the Dead party on November 2 - but that is not confirmed yet.

We'll make an announcement as soon as we know for sure.

Day of the Dead/ All Souls Day is on 1st of november. 2nd is All Saints Day. All Saints Day is a holy day of obligation. so, if you plan on haivng a celebration of some sort, you might want to get your days of observation correct.

Are you certain about this? All of the web sources I've found have Day of the Dead as being Nov. 2.

I have always associated the Day of the Dead with the "Spanish" tradition. From what I know of that festival, and that isn't a great amount, the honoring of the dead began as a month long festival for the Aztecs. When the Spanish decided to "christianize" the holiday, they moved it to coincide with All Saints Day and All Souls Day which occur on November 1st and 2nd, respectively. From what I had been told, both days are considered celebrations of the dead and both are included in the "Day of the Dead" festivals. The 1st is more a night (morning) of honoring deceased children and infants; whereas, the 2nd is a night (morning) of honoring deceased adults.

Duct tape is like 'The Force'. It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together.

And my calendar says that All Saints Day is the first, and All Souls Day is the 2nd....but the whole celebration lasts from the 31-2, so I don't think it terribly matters during what phase of the moon you have a party on...:).

A Halloween Ball will be held at the new Fairbanks on Friday October 31 at 6pm by Dark Elf. It will feature the work of local artists early on in the evening, followed by live bands (Blackgrass?) and become a dance night around midnight or so. Michael Xi and I will be DJing till about 6:00 in the morning. Dark Elf will keep you posted and probably have a flyer in about a week.
The new Fairbanks is located on Kingston Pike where the Cinema Grill/Terrace Tap House used to be, right behind Cha Cha's. The place is HUGE. Absolutely THE best venue in Knoxville to throw a Halloween party.
Everyone will be invited to come and celebrate Halloween with us.

No way. If I could find one of those, that would be my every day attire.
