Contest Guidelines/Rules

Object: Find the graphics scattered about the list of websites below. Each site has a clue as to the graphic's identity. Construct a poem that is no longer than 25 lines based on the clues. All clues must be used. All clues are graphics, unless stated otherwise. Writers must use the word that describes the graphic. Some variations on a word are acceptable. Example if the graphic on a site is a tree, you can use the word tree, or you could also say oak. If you are missing a clue, you will be notified and permitted only one chance to return to the linked sites to search for your missing graphic. However there are only twelve clues to find, so you shouldn't really miss any. If you fail to find the missing clue, your poem will be disqualified. If you go over the 25 line limit, it will result in disqualification. LOOK OVER ENTIRE WEBSITE PAGES FOR THE GRAPHIC OR WRITTEN WORD!

Contest stories will appear in the December issue of WCP. Although only first and second place will receive actual prizes, we may post a 3rd and 4th place stories to acknowledge good prose.

Be unique. That's the purpose of our contest. We supply the clues/graphics and you incorporate them into an unusual piece of prose that is both interesting and believable. Send your submission to your choice of editor e-mails below. Paste your submission into the body of an e-mail and type CONTEST in the subject heading of the e-mail.

Genre of submitted contest stories must be contemporary fantasy i.e. magic realism. Fuzzy on that genre? Well, think today's mainstream world and add a magical element of some sort. Examples of authors who write this genre are: Alice Hoffman, Raymond Fiest, and Laurel K. Hamilton. However, we do not want coinciding dimension stories of barbarian/wizardry worlds popping into this world. It's been done too many times!
