A Myth Ith Ath Good Ath A Mile

Post by keltora »

I just got back from the road that goes ever on and on to Nashville where I attended Mythcon.

Fun place. Lots of bad puns and bad hobbits.

I attended and played harp in a bardic circle led by the most Gracious and Mighty Diana Paxson herself. Also in attendance: Sherwood Smith as Guest of Honor, Brenda Clough, Gregory Feeley, Rosemary Edgehill and a number number of fans and presenters.

I was on one panel (not unusual for Mythcon since it's mostly academic and scholarly papers) but it was on Writing Fantasy in the Shadow of Tolkein. I was the only person on the panel who was able to say I did not read LOTR before I started writing and selling my own stuff. There has to be a paper in that...

(WARNING: EVIL TWIN REMARK --and you soitanly need all them papers to catch all that scholarly poop they was spewing...) :transform:

But it was Fun. We went to the Parthenon and worshiped at the feet of the bawdy looking goddess Athena (one of the comments from one of my fellow writers: "You can tell a 27 year old male made that statue--I have NEVER seen Athena displayed with THAT much cleavage...")

Oh, and I bought a Squeaky David by Michaelanglo... Yes, it is an authentic rubber replica of the Statue of David--sans the figleaf one usually sees dressing him--and when you squeeze him, he squeaks...

It was too hilarious to pass up...
