[Local Author] Sharyn McCrumb

Post by Ladybee »

Hope you don't mind me following your lead on this post idea, JaNell. I think its a great way to learn about local writers, so I thought I'd toss one out there myself.

Sharyn McCrumb isn't exactly local, i think she lives in western NC right now, but she has lived all over the area, and her Ballad Novels are set in and around Hamelin TN, with forays into Knoxville and JC and other towns in the vicinity. She was a writer-in-residence at Kings College, and her Ballad novels (multi-level crime stories that interweave a mountain murder ballad related to each storyline) have won a ton of awards for Appalachian Literature. She also writes a series of pulp mysteries set in western NC (following the sleuth Elizabeth MacPherson), and has written two satires of SF cons/fen/genre, Bimbos of the Death Sun and Zombies of the Gene Pool.

Her website is http://www.sharynmccrumb.com/.

No, jump in!
We really need more participation here...

In fact, anyone who's read anything by any local authors, please, talk about it.

I've read Bimbos, and yes, it's like that at some SF Conventions.
