Yahoo only. I got fed up w/ Trillian months ago... it sucks. I hate AIM because of all the guys from India looking for "friends"... Lonely bastards, don't they have late-nite porn shops in India? Gods...
ICQ just sucks because the number's too long for me to remember (I lose post-its) and screw MSN. SCREW MSN!!!

I've had a bad day. Can you tell?

Why no Jabber?

Post by gray »

Pooh, no mention of Jabber in the IM list. So I guess I am the sole user of it around here. For the curious/brave here's how it works.

I have a Jabber IM server. I setup an account on said server. I can now talk to any other Jabber id on any other Jabber server. To talk to everyone else I have an ICQ account setup, but I am able to access it from my Jabber server. So my Jabber client can now talk to any ICQ person. In fact any Jabber client can talk to other ICQ peoples, so I can use Exodus at work (Win2k) and Gabber (Gnome) at home. But wait there's more. All of my acount profile settings are saved on the server so my contact list is always up to date where ever I log in from. That really rocks.

Check it out at Jabber.org.[/i]

Mainly I use Yahoo, but here and there I'll use ICQ.
And I do have AIM, but I use it less frequently than ICQ.

I use both AIM and Yahoo. I'm interested in the Trillian thing though. Does anybody have info about it? If I'm ever online drop me a line. I'm grendelbrian on yahoo and GundamBCustom on AIM.

As I said before - if you want a third-party IM client, skip trillian - it's hideous.

but give GAIM a shot ( http://gaim.sourceforge.net/ )

You hush DV, if he wants to use trillian (like me) let him!

Sorry, I'm a "Yahoo all the way" hardliner. Yahoo has never let me down in over 4 years of use. As an IM system or as free email.
I swear by it.

Tried ICQ, AIM, MSN and they all suck big ole' donkey dicks like there is no tomorrow.

Yahoo is my favorite, as well. Never tried AIM, but I've got msnm and ICQ. MSNM crashes bi-weekly at least, I keep it around since there are people I like on MSNM that don't have Yahoo. ICQ is a recent re-addition, haven't had it since 2001 or so and I'm not sure I like it much. Yahoo is to be preferred.

compared to trillian, it's beautiful.

of course, if you want pretty, you'll need Aqua.

For that, you'll want to try Fire. ( http://fire.sourceforge.net/ )
