7,000 RPM misshift

And you thougt you were having a bad day when your car broke down. Well this idiot downshifted at 7 grand from 5th to 2nd. He ment to go into 4th but miss his shift. Here's what happens when you turn a stock motor at 16,000 RPM.

EDIT: 128 MPH in 5th, would be 16,200 RPM in second.

The hand holding the the lumps of metal, those are/were pistons.

The pan with all the broke ass bits in it and 2 cyclinders. Those are wristpins, they are what connect the piston to the connecting rods (make the piston go up and down from the explosion, and thats how you get power).

eek. That almost makes me feel better about my timing chain breaking and having a valve bend on the same night that my husband's transmission went out on his car. Almost. lol

Howcome I see another fad brewing now? "My engine blew bigger than yours yo!" but it should limit the number of ricers to show up at nopi this year! but what a concept, reving the engine @ 16k sure makes it easier to remove those pesky wrist pins! a little JB weld and an oil change should fixer right up! :rock:

The guy who did the math miscalculated. Another dude post another much more impressive number, 19234.24 RPM.

I've heard of a driver in a V-8 in a NASCAR Craftsman Truck race miss a shift and buzz the motor 10,000. But that was 8 laps to the finish and he was in the top 3. He came in second, and hadn't really done any damage to the motor. The rings on NASCAR motors don't really work too well towards the end of the race. It amazing, they set those motors up to peak at either the halfway or 2/3 point of the race, and by the end of the race they are not 'fresh' so they pull them, replace all the bearings, rings, journals, and seals. And they are set up to peak at 1/2 or 2/3 of the next race.

poor i-vtec... my vtech is crying in sympathy. of course, my vtec spends most of it's time around 9k... the guy should have bought a rotary if he's going to try to wind it that high. at least a rotary has a prayer of surviving.
