Um, yeah, perhaps the statement is a bit strong, but, um, we all know it would have been a bit different had it been a hurricane in the fucking Hamptons...perhaps rich fucks just don't give a fuck about any poor people, black,white, mexican or otherwise.

I think it took balls to call out the prez, so, I applaud him, especially being a well off person himself.

I may not agree with everything he said or the way he said it, but THANK ALL THAT'S HOLY that he still has the FREEDOM and the RIGHT to say it publicly!

When we stop seeing people being able to be this open with their words on TV that Bush and his ilk will have truly won the day.

Wellll...you notice Mike Meyer's reaction and how fast the cameras cut away after he said that? That's because he was speaking off the written script and they didn't have the time to cut it out of the show because it was a live broadcast. They did what they could in that situation, they got him off camera ASAP.

While I agree with what you say, the freedom to be able to say that is a wonderful thing, but if it hadn't been a live broadcast, he (by virtue of the producers) would never have said it (or have been able to say it) on TV.

Personally I think this century may see class issues as a much bigger problem than race. When poor whites, mexicans, and blacks realize they have much more in common with each other than the wealthy of their respective races (the 2 percent of the population that holds all the wealth), then perhaps we'll see revolution and change for the better.

i think we are rapidly approaching it.
i think in alot of ways its there and racism at times is a shield because some people dont want to admit its not just their race anymore.
i think class war is where its headed, and give em a racial slur or a nickname... but its not a race your after if your rich and wanna stay that way.... its a demographic.
eventually the bullshit will be called and i think it will be in our life times.
racism is deader than elvis. now its just a shield of insecurity or stupidity.

Agreed, he slipped it by "the man." Good for him in doing so - would that he could have said something of more value in the time he wrangled past the usual media censorship. He wasn't beaten or arrested for speaking his mind, which does happen in many part of the world, and may be getting more common here, too.
