Talbots unveils new lineup of Classic Gothic Fashions!

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

Talbots unveils new lineup of Classic Gothic Fashions!

Ok, so even the most daring souls wouldn't want to think of THAT advertising campaign..

The actual point of this post is to see if anyone else is/has been subject to the indentured servitude that is the Talbots Customer Service Center here in Knoxville. I was hired after leaving Client Logic a couple months back, and have since learned a variety of things that I very much fear I shall take to my grave, such as what color pumps go with a shady pink boucle skirt suit. I was hoping someone out there migh have some words of wisdom for dealing with the mind-crushing boredom that is conservative fashion, or at least a few survivor stories of folks who made it out alive.

Turn that hopeless feeling into pity, and amuse yourself: Pick the ugliest thing in the store, and make it your goal to sell it to as many people as possible.

*bonus* Try to get them to accesorize it with hideous, unmatching things.

Eww, I use to work in JCPenny shoe department. Try measuring screaming children for shoes.

Hehe, perhaps I should have been a little more specific.. I'm a CSR in the telemarketing center. Some sales work, but primarily system and account duty, and listening to complaints. So yes, it's quite possible his leaving was part of the reason my class was hired :)

As for them being anal, yeah.. So very. Not nearly as bad as, say, Nova. But it's pretty damned dull. No reading, no surfing.. The only good thing to come out of it is a weekly paycheck. But it could be worse.. I could still be stuck at Client Logic taking escalations from the phillipenes.. The horror stories my friend tells me..

Talbots was insane ( I worked as a sales and service rep there), you could not have a coat or sweater at your desk ( fire hazard ). No reading, and I worked nights 7pm to 330am when it was slow. They would rather you talk out loud with your peers than read, and expand your mind.. I worked there 2.5 wasted years. I got the run around on to many issues like advancement , and having tissue on my desk... ( Yeah we could not have tissue till a bunch of us complained to corporate ) LOL...

I don't miss Talbots. Lets see my new job in customer service, you can eat at your desk, shoot people cook food in crocpots at thier desk, you can read, all day long, the 2nd,and 3rd shift can wear jeans, and a tee shirt, ( and this is a BANK ). Plus much better pay advancements.

So why are you not giving a name or linking to the corporate website? I'm more inclined towards tech myself, but CS pays the bills. So c'mon, share, share.. Where's this wonderful place of free thought and financial oppurtunity?

Pretty please? With strippers on top?

Hey your Lordship!

Grow a set of testicles and work construction with me...
better money... not better people... you won't have time to nor even want to bite your fingernails... book? Ask those guys you'd be working with what those are for... I feel for you. I used to work the same jobs... I don't call myself angelovodd so I don't recommend Lordhades either... try Johnny or Jim or something like that. Hard work, but time goes by quickly and you'll have stories that no one will believe... Good insurance... weekends off... might have to miss those Sanctus events though... Good luck. Godspeed. Give it a try!

My father's worked construction all my life. I grew up around jobsites, and worked with him now and then over the years, and at construction companies before. I can say pretty certainly that it's not for me. Sure, the exercise would be great, but I never really felt cut out for that line of work. Not to mention it's always been my father's wish that I not get stuck working myself to death in construction like he has.. One of the few things he made known that he wanted of me. Nah, working with my hands are fun for hobbies, but if I'm ever gonna be stuck in construction, it'll be putting together computers or the like.. Something that'll actually have some mental appeal to it.

In the meantime.. meh.. At least there are plenty of attractive ladies to admire to make the day go by.

LordHades (Or Lorne, if you prefer, I'll answer to either, though hey you works just as well.)

Lorne,
You make a good point. Construction does kinda suck. Easiest thing for me though. Get to travel a bit at least.

I'm not saying it's wrong for everyone, there are most definitely people who get satisfaction, or at least good money, out of working construction. I'm making quite a bit less per hour than my father did before he had to stop working, but without a family or any real financial obligations to speek of, I'm also alot more free to do what I like with my money than he ever was.

Now I just have to figure out what it is that I want to do..

I understand and I hope to be able to have a family one day myself and be able to support them... I don't want to work construction all my life either. It's been hard to figure out what I'd like to do and make money at too. I've just moved back to town and made friends with a bunch of people who, either don't have jobs or are just drunk all the time. I mean it's cool to do that for a while but you have to think about the future if you want one. Unfortunately, most of the people I know now don't seem to think ahead of tomorrow. They're pretty good people but I don't see them hanging out in my living room 10 years from now... Some of them I don't think will make to tomorrow night. I'm not trying to be an asshole, I'm just telling it like it is... I hope they all make it. I hope that you and I do too...

I dug ditches in South FL, for my dads water sprinkler company... Need less to say when I was about 16yrs old I had a bad day in the HEAT blah blah blah... My dad yelled at me! ( mistake ) Out of the clear blue sky I yelled I ain't gonna dig ditches to earn my riches. Then I broke his thumb in a tussle... LOL We have a love hate relation ship... His co-workers about peed them selves when I said that. So sitting In a chair on the phone has been my job since ;)
