Record labels and royalties

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

Record labels and royalties

Post by white_darkness »

The record labels have begun the process of tracking down and compensating artists for back royalties

Kinda makes you wonder since they did this big advertising kick on how file sharing in it's glorious evil deprived artists of money. Looks like something else has been depriving artists of money...

Imagine that, and funny how it takes a touch of legal action to get things going...well, $50 million things going....

Political cartoon

Post by Scorptrio »

I saw a political cartoon where the RIAA was depicted as a "fat-cat corporate type" and was yelling at file sharers, saying, "Stop stealing from the music artists! That's OUR job!"

If they get their way, and the technology is rapidly getting to the place where they will be able to get their way, you will pay each and every time you listen to a song.

Face it, they own the music... don't they?

A tad bit off the subject, but I'm loving that new Pepsi commercial. That kid got sued for downloading songs, lost her college savings or whatever, but is now getting paid who knows how many times that amount by Pepsi. Imagine how much that spited whoever sued her. I like that.
