Even if it doesn't end in death, you always end up with some warped individuals, children and adults. I know the most intelligent girl, but she is afraid to do anything to stick up for herself, she won't even tell her OB's nurse that her baby is not for sale when the nurse offered to buy it while she was pg. Her hubbie locked her in her room and made her pee ina pickle jar and now her beautiful mind is so warped...

For the record, I also don;t like concentration camp jokes, child sex jokes, rape jokes, or anything that violates the rule "do no harm."

ya this is a serious matter. i have been in abusive relationships and it isnt fun. but i have to say that women arent the only ones being abused. granted that men are much stronger, women have the law on thier side. what about these little twitts who sucker punch their boyfriends every time they dont get their way, then call the cops when he finally decides to hit her back?

my last fiancee did that but i didnt hit her back. she cut herself up when i wasnt around and called the cops on me.
i was at home in bed when she did that shit, but i did a night and almost had to do 20 years in jail
almost prisoned for ending a relationship, and going home and going to bed.
and the mass scar tissue i had she did, just like the scars on her.
im glad someone realizes how fucking reversed that shit can be...

as far as this image goes, i can see both sides.
if i was a battered women, i think i would laugh more than anyone at it though, because the law is soooooooo in your favor. but i have more of a logical thinking base than an emotional (read im a cold hearted bastard)

Although I generally respect your posts, I think this is just ridiculous.

Yeah, I'd be really comforted, after being bruised, beaten, mentally and emotionally destroyed, and utterly humiliated, that the law was going to be "on my side." Because I should count my damn blessings.

After all of the silly shit that gets removed on this board, this one has my vote. It's offensive and embarrassing. There are hundreds of members of this board, many of whom may have experienced a situation like this, and it is a terrible message to send to our online community that we post images like this to incite laughter.

my mother is in a lawsuit right now hinging on her husband (soon to be EX-husband) abusing her for 20 years. im more than likely going to be in a lawsuit for defending her life and my own again.
i get my take on this because that IS why she goes to sleep at night. she knows the law is in her favor, so she goes to sleep easier.
but im caught defending her AGAIN in self-defense i could see a few months in jail... and i do so love me some jail.... :groans: why would i see jail? a male in his mid-20s fighting a 50 year old man... i get treated like i just beat my wife in that situation. think im full of shit? ill show my criminal record. note the list of minor charges on it for cases that were ALL in self-defense against him. because of my age, i got charged everytime with random SHIT.
yea i think my take on it doesnt work for everyone, but in our current situation its helping alot.
and ive been in lawsuits as abused child, the law being in my favor then is how i slept with it for the rest of my life.

im no degrading the emotion of the victim, but its a good place for the victim to start the healing process. i think anyway.
i do see your point and respect it, but i do think your holding my take to an extreme. i meant it more of a starting point for comfort.
ive spent way too much of my life around violent crime, and domestic is just as bad as the rest.
knowing that you can make the person who shamed you get some punishment and knowing that they cant touch you again (if you do some minor rearraging that is) can help alot.

**Edit** i showed this thread to my mother .. she laughed saying glad someone can make light of it better than me, and then smirked and asked if i wanted a beer. thats a woman who was beat almost daily (unbeknownst to even me) for 20 years with this husband, 10 with another, and was beat as a child. and she laughed. not all people take things the same.

I absolutely agree. And would add children who have watched their parents get abused, and perhaps adults that were abused as children.

As for drama, and not that I know who you are, but the negative responses on here were valid. Anyone who would post something so offensive and questionable is asking for it.

I can see how you feel the way you do. You have your own experiences to draw from, and I can see how winning the lawsuit would ease your mom's mind (and instill a feeling of revenge, which helps with healing sometimes). I just thought you were speaking in generalities. I, too, have a history of abuse in my family, but none of the people I love and have helped get through it would find this funny. I think that these kinds of images are cruel in nature, and meant to pull out the most sadistic and satirical responses from people (much like Freud's theory of humor). If you can laugh at your pain, great. It makes it so much easier. But some people are not that strong.

Even at that, there are young people that read this board, as well as their parents. I just don't think the message is proper. Yes, perhaps a survivor of domestic abuse would understand this as a satire, but I don't think a 12 year old would. I don't understand the point of posting something so sensitive and possibly upsetting. Often members get pissed off on this board when people express their stubborn opinions, which is cool, and entertaining. I stick my neck out there once in a while. But this isn't someone's opinion (I HOPE), it's just offensive.

Personally, I think anyone who has dealt with it, does deal with it in different ways. There are some things that I am sure people would think I was evil for laughing over but it was my only/best way to deal with it. There are also some things, like this, where I tend to get very upset because it's been a part of my life not just where my aunt was concerned but several times before it as well. I think it's all in how any individual deals with it. I won't judge anyone by how they deal with things, if you've been through it before. The only thing that pisses me off is when some redneck asshole walks by and makes a joke about beating the shit out of a woman because I figure he probably goes home and does the same thing he jokes about. I'm not saying Nexxus is a bad person for posting this, just voicing that it's not a joke of my taste. That's all. Hope that made some kind of sense.

I do see everyone's point, and I could add my own sob story, or talk about my friend who I WATCHEd get MURDERED with a BUTCHER knife in FRONT of her CHILDREN, bu tI choose not to. It was a joke. That's all I took it as. That's like when people laugh at dead baby jokes, I sure as hell don't think that they have a truck full of dead babies in their yard, nor do I believe that a JOKE would encourage them to do so.

I just find it intresting how many people are upset with this, and yet they said nothing on the matter of the "snickers" post. It's a human being, so what if it was Jesus Christ, it was a Human Being enduring that. Just how I see it.

Making fun of abused women is just all in good fun.

So now that we have set the bar, hopefully we'll see more demeaning views, such as black jokes, jew bashing, and etc.

I mean, it's just women after all.

And, I agree, kids should not be reading this board. Therefore we, as adults, can not be held responsible for our posts on a public forum.

Then again, watch out if you want to post something nasty about the armed forces, because one of ours is an active member. You might get reprimanded, or banned. Becuase obviously there is no way that any members may have been a victim of abuse and taken offense to this. It's all in good fun.
Or "fat chicks"... we can't talk bad about fat chicks because someone on this board will get offended. But they would only have the right to get personally upset if they actually are a "fat chick" right?

This is the first time I've actually been embarrassed to be a part of this board.
