I've heard of alot of the stuff and have seen much of what you all are talkin about but I never really considered any of them old...just some I thought were badly animated....guess I was wrong....?

I remember Land of the Lost, with the Sleestacks, power crystals and portals between the worlds. I thought it was the coolest thing, but my older brother was frightened by it. What a wimp. He wouldn't watch the Star Trek original episodes "Devil in the Dark" and "The Doomsday Machine" because they frightened him too. What a wimp! He's a year older than me, too. Man, he would clean up with the ladies in this scene, if he could handle it. He's brawnier and, dare I say it, better looking than I am. He's not socially adept, though, especially within a "subculture". Some things come with age, other things you have to figure out on your own. What else? Oh, yeah... "Space Academy" and "Jason of Star Command." Now there were some low-budget sci-fi stories worth watching as a wee little lad.

I will be 29 on the 16th...yes..stop the presses...Miz Kitty reveals her real age....but I have a really good memory of my early childhood. I remember seeing a double feature of "Grease" and "Saturday Night Fever" in the theater as a child. As far as tv goes, I remember a lot of shows. There was one I loved that no one else seems to remember. It was a comedy (not really for kids mind you) called "Brothers and Sisters" about colege fraternity guys. I remember one of the guys had a sign on the door of his dorm room in fancy script that said, "Le Dump". I thought it was so funny that my sister made me a cardboard sign for my bedroom just like it. I also liked "Quincy". I thought it was hilarious at the intro when he pulls back the sheet off the dead body, and the intern faints. I guess I was kind of a weird kid.

The strange thing about this trip down memory lane is how much simpler things were back in the 70's where I started growing up, into the 80's where I became a woman, then the 90's where shit started to go wrong. I sometimes wish life was as simple as it was then, but then ya grow up. In 10 years some of you will be saying "Hey remember that show.........(insert one of today's best known tv programs here)".

Ah, innoncence lost........I guess it has to happen to all of us?

heh... childhood memory...

Star Wars came out the same time as "The Rescuers" from Disney I believe...
I had choice of which to go to that weekend... Rescuers won (I was a kid hit w/Disney hype being a sucker for the weekly disney special on Sundays) as I hadn't heard anything about Star Wars... went the next weekend and my father had to stand in line for like 3 hours to get tickets (thanks dad! )... from the opening space ship battle I was Sci-Fi hooked.

)I distinctly remember going to early matinee shows and staying for the next shoing, and the next one...A lot of kids did that. Our moms would just drop us off at the movies and pick us up after a blissful day of unpestered shopping. I think what sold me as a kid was hearing Chewie roar in a commercial...Cooool.

Im 29 going on 50! Dancing takes a lot out of ya. Takes a young nice girl & makes her a bitter old woman! I just remembered when I saw Annie my first time at the theatre. Man what I wouldn't give to go back ... *sigh*

Probably the memory that dates me the most is the first movie that i ever saw was the original Star Wars at a drive in theatre. Granted i was more concerned about getting M&M's to eat and playing on the playground at the time, but its still a cool pop culture first memory to have.

My favorite cartoon was fragile rock... I don't remeber the puppet show like D_artagnan does... but I loved the cartoon, not to mention Strawberry Shortcake and all of that kind of stuff. Since toys and things are now being produced of childhood cartoons I use to love. My mother now buys me Strawberry SHOrtcake stuff for christmas and my birthdays... (Damn being a redhead with freckles) I have resigned to the fact that childhood nicknames will never leave ma so long as any family member lives :twisted:

ANd I do remeber leg warmers my mom made me wear a pair of them in a horrid bright turquois color.... really gross... Thanks mom...

childrens plcae had parachute pants right before christmas...

hbo has *new* strawberry shortcake cartoons.

anyone remember the shasta commericals with the penguins and the light-up piano? and billy crystal doing pepsi commericals? that was during the "cola wars" thing when there was new coke, classic coke and mex hedrom.

when i was little i remember watching the three company spin-off and the show with valerie bertinelli and jj bullock. oh- and hollywood squares with paul lynde. the soap i watch had meg ryan and courteney cox on it in the early 80's as well...funny how you remember thigns like TV, but you can't remember what you did at a party senior year of high school.
