Flea market?

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

Flea market?

Post by Thrall »

I Want to go rummage around in piles of wonderful used stuff. This can only be accomplished properly at a flea market.

my problem is this: where the hell are the local flea markets?!

i haven't stumbled across any and you can't exactly look them up in the phone book. but i have faith in the good people of KG. someone out there shares my love of previously owned goods and will fill me in on where to find them.

The best two are:

1. Green Acres. It's on Alcoa Hwy going towards the airport. They have tons of outside booths/garage sale type stuff, but the vendors start setting up around 5 am, and you really have to get there EARLY to get any good stuff.

2. Great Smokey's flea market in Sevierville. It's worth the drive(about 30 min. via interstate). Take the I40 East to exit 407 (Gatlingburg/Pigeon Forge exit) You can see it on the right before you get onto the exit. It's my favorite and Saturday's are best. I usually get there around 10/11, but you can find good stuff until late (they close at 5).
Sure, I'll try to be nicer, if you try to be smarter.

I will be your willing and able flea market companion. I know where lots are. I personally hate the ones that sell new cheap shit. I like old cheap shit..lol.

Damn...I can't do it today though...but I'll start compiling a list of flea markets for ya. I even used to know a few in SE Kentucky.

There is also one here in Oak Ridge at the high school parking lot. And I'm thinking there might be one in the powell area...I'll ask my mom. She's a professional.

it's a bit late this year, but hit the 127 sale next august. Every year there's a yard sale that stretches the length of Highway 127, from somewhere in Kentucky to somewhere in Georgia. Highway 127 is main street in Crossville, about an hour or so from Knoxville (exit 317 on I-40). It lasts a few days officially, a little over a week in reality. People come from EVERYWHERE with stuff.
There's also at least one flea market in Crossville every weekend... if you want to drive that far, PM me for directions.

I second Green Acres.

There is also the Sweetwater indoor Flea Market, um...exit 60 , towards Chattanooga. I used to love going there.

I'm not sure if the Oak Ridge one is still going on or not.....they usually shut it down when it turns cold. I can find out though.

I would like to hit up some yard sales on Saturdays before it gets too damn cold. Of course, this may need to wait until next spring....

Damn cold, and you wonder why I want ot move to New Orleans.

It's in the parking lot closest to the turnpike...across the street from the police department/utility place/civic center/library.

It is on saturday mornings..starting early..unless it's already over for the season
