Computers and the religions of the world.

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

Computers and the religions of the world.

Post by celticsmith »

I was told that this was too good to leave buried in that other thread....so here it is on it's own.

Here an interesting analogy ...

There are the three major religions (MAC, PC, and LINUX)

Scads of minor ones (JAVA, Unix, C++, etc.)

Quite a few ancient religions that have been forgotten or lost in time (Basic, FOTRAN.....Ye gods I hated FORTRAN)

All of these are based upon ancient written text (PUNCHCARDS!!!!)

All of them are attemts to understand a concept that is too vast for the human mind to understand (Binary Code. Windows is around 1.5 GB in size.....imagine trying too look at it in binary code).

And where would the All-Father be in all this?

He is the line between 1 and 0

and where is the Universe Mother?

She is all that is outside of 1 and 0

Oh great....Now I've gone and started another religion.....AGAIN!!!

to add to the confusion, if binary code is just 1's and 0's then the person reading the code for the matrix would have to study for lifetimes in order for them to understand it perfectly, which leads me to think that the minds that are capable to read it would be so advanced that it would be sick.

Serious time in response to celts post
ive heard that before but not exactly like that ( like yours better).... but we took it as far into the belief structure of the ancients, elders, prexistance theories in conjunction with typewriters and the abacus (spelling? jim beam kills my spelling).... that theory can go for awhile....

here's something scary. the tactical computers on nuclear submarines still force you to enter binary input via switch up switch down and graphic output being little red lights for the firing solutions of their torpedoes and poss. the missiles themselves

this means a 20yr. old with hormones raging makes a decision in a split second where one wrong off or on sends some serious firepower in a completely different direction

so it is a black and white world after all.

See, the silly thing about all of this is that binary code is ones and zeros. Executable code, however, is most definitely not comprised of ones and zeros; it's machine code, which is much closer to what the code of The Matrix implies.

Take your favorite text editor (how about DOS edit, for you PC users), and open your favorite executable program. It looks like ass, only without the hairy texture to make it palatable.

The shit you see there is more advanced than simple binary code, by several orders of magnitude. As such, you're correct - their minds would have to be more advanced.

Or perhaps simply more attuned. After all, when we're young and still learning our first languages, we pick things up far faster than any adult could. Humans, while in the infantile stage of growth, are pretty much linguistic computers. So perhaps those humans from The Matrix are just that damn good, as a side effect of recovering from being immersed in the matrix, and having that code piped into their brains through their neural implants.

I would think that logically the initial shock of being out of the matrix would reduce a norman human to a blathering idiot so that can't be it. Blame it on evolution of the human brain because as i remember most of the people that could read it were born in zion.
