Art imitates life, life imitates art...
It's been said many times that art imitates life and then life imitates art and sometimes the cycle continues so that we have art imitating life that imitated art that imitated life, etc. Yes, the excerpt I posted was from the in-game newspaper for The Matrix Online, which is only a video game and shouldn't be taken as seriously as real world news events. It’s certainly a case of art imitating life, or at least a popular and probably inaccurate view of life. There is something that can be seen in this, and that is how people are stereotyped by their clothing, music, habits or other sub-culture labels. Like it or not, many people see anyone who wears a black trench coat as not only capable but extremely likely to start killing others or themselves.
