As soon as I finish my coffee we are going to start getting ready for Wilma. Clean up the yard, fill the water jugs, stock up at the store......Good news is this is the last hurricane I'm ever gonna have to deal with.

Yeah now you just have to look forward to tornadoes, the odd blizzard, and Tennessee drivers :twisted:

I live in Tampa Bay, I'm used to redneck football fans.

At least a blizzard is something different......looking forward to my first blizzard. Hell looking forward to the first time the kids get to see any snow at all, even the hubbys never seen snow.

It doesn't snow a whole lot here unless you are living in the mountains.
Also understand 2-3 inches for many of the locals in this area is a blizzard.

However, once in rare while we get a freak snow storm here that will literally shut Knoxville down for a few days to a week. The last real good one was back in 92(?) where we had thunder lightning and a snow storm all at the same time. Dropped about 1.5 - 2 feet of snow overnight. Closed down pretty much the whole town for about 4 days.

When the weather forecasters predict snow, the grocery stores empty out of milk & bread. So if you need either get to the store and stock up asap.

Also if there are even snow flurries in the air (not laying on the ground) stay off the roads as the people here drive like COMPLETE IDIOTS! I am comfortable in driving in the snow but still avoid it here due to the many others here who can't and are likely to kill you because of it.

LOL I know, I was born in Michigan...I know real blizzards and snow. But to my family - hubby was born here and so were all the kids....to them 3 inches is gonna be a blizzard - none of them have even seen a half inch of snow.

shit, i was trapped at home for 2.5 weeks. my road was so bad the power company went half way and refused to go any further and said that we would have to clear it ourselves.

What part of MI? I'm from Detroit.

Rain makes people drive all weird, too. They feel the need to go 30 mph down the flippin expressway, they hit the brakes every 30 seconds or so.

People here must have had some really shitty drivers ed instructors...or it must just be imbedded in their brains that since everyone else here drives that way, they must too.

East Lansing. We moved here when I was only 5 though. Went back and lived there for about a year when I was 9 and for a few months when I was 14.

i live in gatlinburg..we usually get like 4-6 inches or so. My daughter was afraid of it the first time she saw it.

Also..i dont think we really get tornados up here either..the mountains break up all that weather tomfoolery..but ive heard that if a bad storm system does get in here..it cant get back out..and thats not so good. meteorology kinda intrigues me.

i'm from MI as well. detroit, as well.

in reference to what bone mentioned... they made t-shirts here in east tn saying "i survived the blizzard of '93" - it was only 2 feet of snow. whoopty fucking shit.

yes, because it's hilly here, there were snow drifts that came up to 6 feet, but that was mostly in the country, where they have narrow ass roads and leave parts of the said hills standing. so, when it snows, don't drive in the country.

problem solved.

if this area had a real blizzard, it would shut down for a month, and people would think that armageddon had finally found their number, and decided to give them a call.

then everyone would laugh at them for another 10 or 20 years.

LOL that's so cute. How old was she.

The hurricane whipped through the state at warp speed. Nothing to bad here it crossed the state further down, just lots of rain here and winds of about 50 mph. We hunkered down, had family over cooked food and got drunk.

It's a beautiful day today sunny, only 70 degrees, still a nice wind blowing.

Nothing, and I am warning you of this...Nothing compares to the fucking UT fans. I live in the Fort by campus...TRUST ME!

UF & FSU have nothing on these people.

There is a guy that comes in to where I work from Arizona every game...He hasn't missed a game in like 4 years, and the last time he did it was because his grandchild was born...

God I wish it ever snowed here anymore. Woo global warming.

The Blizzard of 93 was so awesome.

I hate winter so much, only snow makes it worth the cold. I love how everything is so silent because people freak out about a 1/2 inch and stay inside.

I was in San Antonio in the early 80s when they got one of the first snows there in 10-15 years. You talk about a city immobilized....
