Hope everyone's got full tank of gas...

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

Gas prices on Clinton hwy have hit $3.09 a gallon for 87 octane

Word is it may hit as high as $4 a gallon by this weekend.

I'm gonna have to quit smoking just to afford to go to work.

I spent $20 and fot 6.25 gallons for my effort today. I am honestly worried that we won't be able to afford gas to go to work and take the kids to school.

It might be a good idea for people to set up car pools for Sanctus and Temple for the next little while.

this is scary

This picture was taken earlier today at a BP station in Stockbridge, GA, just south of Atl. Thing is, gas is always a little cheaper down there, as their sales tax is half of what it is in TN. Price gouging much?

but we react
we control the mass hysteria because we fuel it
and we buy up all the gas because we are told
and then the shit raises
and then it drops
this is sept12 all over again
gas was back to normal by sept 14 or 15.

If gas prices reach $4 per gallon, i might as well just fucking quit work...$4 per gallon is OVER half of my per hour salary.

Exactly, simple high school economics..... Supply and Demand....

If you run out and fill every last bottle you have, the demand is high, so more money can be made, so prices will go up...

That's is what happened yesterday. That is why gas stations are running out of gas. Then, the other stations say, "well hell, if they'll pay 2.89 and that other station is now out, I guess 2.99 is their next choice. Bubba, raise the price, the Pilot just went dry."

You have to remember that the price of gas has always gone up before Labor Day weekend. This time, that 10 cent increase caused stupid f#$king panic! That caused the price to continue to increase.

Prime example... I drive by a Ractrac everyday to take Evie to her sitter. Monday, regular unleaded was 2.49. Tuesday 2.49. Wednesday morning 2.59. Did I panic, no I just drove on with my 3/4 of a tank. While at work, the dumbasses of East Tennessee came out and freaked. Now, we all must pay! At least until next Tuesday, when that original 10 cent hike from yesterday normally drops back down even lower than it started....

They are *trying* to get the pipeline working at full capacity by this weekend. I don't think we should quit our jobs and scream Armageddon just yet.

Katrina fucked everything up. And not to be too offensive, but I'm about tired of hearing people piss and moan about their gas prices, while families in NOLA and Mississippi can't even find water.
The gas shortage will be remedied, you will all have enough gas money to get to Sanctus, and families will be rebuilding their entire lives from scratch. I'm not bitching about gas prices... I actually feel spoiled right now.

Thats exactly how I feel. At least I still have a car, a house, all my silly material possessions and my family alive and prospering. So I may have to tighten things a little tighter, but anyways, we have NOTHING to complain about. Hell, even before the hurricane even the poorest of us have it better than the majority of the world.

I mean, I'm a single mother who gets 45 a month in child support...and I'm trying to look on the bright side...imagine being without food, water, shelter, the necessities, plus having lost loved ones.

yes. we may be spoiled. and yes the people down south have it far worse then us. but that does not mean we do not have the right to bitch. if we were not fighting a stupid war over oil anyway we would have the funds, the resources, the manpower to help the people who need it, gas prices would not be as bad to begin with. If bush was not such a cunt, it would be much easier to handle the situation and people who need food, water, and medication would be able to get it.

ya know gas averages around $7 a gallon and has for some time now in Europe...We have been spoiled ....I think this will pass once the pipelines are back up. The American economy is stronger than most of us give it credit... . just my 2cents.

I see where you are coming from, but if you bring in the "war" the problem gets much more complicated. Too complicated, in fact. I do not necessarily believe that without the war this situation would be any better.... the complications with the oil shortage are also directly linked to electricity outages and mainland flooding- in addition to the damage in the Gulf. The war is not preventing us from getting help to the citizens of NOLA... that, too, is a much more complicated situation. We just need to realize that there has been a major national catastrophe, mother nature kicked our ass (as she will continue to, with exaggerated force in the near future) and this is a temporary inflation.

If things don't get up and running and back to normal (price-wise) in the next couple of weeks, yes, we need to start thinking and possibly bitching. I just think we should immediately worry about our neighbors and do everything we can to help. For some people, it's not within their means to give, even $5, to help our people. But I'm sorry if it bothers me to hear people worrying about how they will get to the club this weekend. Volunteer. I've been volunteering, and will continue to do so. Call the Red Cross, and if you don't have money, ask how you can help. Don't bitch about the problem if you aren't a part of the solution. Getting funds to NOLA will speed up the process in every way: people will be fed, evacuated, and in the near future begin to reconstruct, and our troops can turn their efforts to rebuilding the levees and getting our oil distribution up and running. I'm not in love with our government, either, but we have a responsibility as citizens. The responsibility does not rest solely in the hands of the current administration.

so if we had all the equipment and manpower that is deployed in Iraq here you don't think it would help get food, water, and other supplies to places in miss. and Louisiana faster? there are people down there who still have not received any aid at all. some places have not even been reached yet. the fact that many of our resources can not be used to because they are all tied up in Iraq is not deniable. financially speaking, this would not be that big of a deal if bush had not put us so far into debt fighting a war that he has yet to justify. impeachment anyone? wait, nevermind, his replacement isn't any better.

agreed. however, speaking of gas prices, the current trend is, they jack up the prices and then lower them a little bit but never back to as low as they were. if concern is not stated beforehand, corporations would try to milk out the price hike for as long as possible.

I'm not in love with our government, either, but we have a responsibility as citizens. The responsibility does not rest solely in the hands of the current administration.

no it does not lie solely in the hands of our current administration. but i will point out that it is the current administrations job to take as much responsibility for it as possible. this includes making sure that we have enough resources to handle a national catastrophe. Considering that we seem to be on a streak of them and all. It is their main responsibility to take care of our own. not others problems.
