Bush tells U.S. Iraqi war sacrifice "worth it"

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

No it will not make sense. This war has made less sense than the Vietnam war.

Are you saying that because you actually believe it or because you feel that is your duty to stand by your president? I think that in the long run this will come out to be some of the worst public relations that the U.S.A. has ever done. No matter how scared the U.S.A. is of "terrorists", the world is still looking at us and saying "WTF?!" We have for the sake of two buildings worth of dead people, gone over to another country that wasn't even directly related to the crash, and bombed the shit out of them and in the process killed many of our own. We have detained, stripped, positioned, tourtured, humiliated, and photographed Iraqis and wrote it off as "interogation" when such things are strictly agaist the ideas set forth by the geneva convention. We have agreed that in a time of war that it is okay for others to be taken into custody and "interogate" them for hours because of "profiling" and the fear of "terrorism". These "insergants" in recent news are civilians who are willing to die to say "get the fuck out". Beheading people didn't work. Now they are willing to go to any length to be rid of us. And to think that they had almost gotten over the last time we were there. This whole thing is making us look like barbaric warlords who are trying to rule everything. Especially sense we point the finger at the other guy and say "It's all his fault. He started it. Help us kill him." Something to think about.

We'll keep that in mind when we all get drafted...I guess you don't have to worry about that though...

Im sayin it cause i believe it.Because for the handful of years i have had to hear about Saddam was doing this and Saddam was doing that and then i got tired of this Piece of shit tryin to be a somebody and nobody would step up and do something about him and yea at first i didnt really care. Then i see footage of what this bastard did to his people from killing off most of his detractors. To stringing up people by there feet and and whipping them and then having salt poured into those wounds.I could go on and on about how bad Iraq use to be.But you out there wont listen and thats fine. You see alot of people dont look at the bigger picture in that the insurgents at most are from outside countries so we have them tied up fighting over there and we dont have to worry about them comin over here and trying something extreme.I say the wars we fight now are like major surgery, none of us want to have a major surgery it will hurt and leave a scar for many many years but in the end it will make us better and stronger. So for that is has been worth it.As far as being drafted hell i would be over there right now if i could you wouldnt have to draft me.I curse the makers every day i cant be over doing more and helping out and doing my part i really wish i could be half the man that our soldiers are.
Lastly i will leave with this a quote from a former President
If Saddam Hussein fails to comply and we fail to act or we take some ambiguous third route, which gives him yet more opportunities to develop his program of weapons of mass destruction and continue to press for the release of sanctions and ignore the commitments he's made? Well, he will conclude that the international community's lost its will. He will then conclude that he can go right on doing more to build an arsenal of devastating destruction. If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow. The stakes could not be higher. Some way, someday, I guarantee you he'll use the arsenal
President Bill Clinton in 1998
thank you and have a good day

if you wanna talk about dictators being cruel to people
look no further than home

spying on people
stripping away civial liberties left and right
stipping away aid for veterns
assualting peacefull protestors
infiltrating protest organizations to try to frame them for terrorist activities
"free speach zones"
treating people as expendable tools to fight a fake war
lying to the american public

the list goes on and on

who will save us from our saddam ?!?!?

if this is a war on terrorism
how come we haven't sent troop number one to ireland
i'm sure the british would love the help of a few thousand american troops to put the foot down on ira terrorists
but then again
who would be right and who would be wrong
is ireland so bad to want to be "liberated" from british rule

is cuba so wrong (or for that matter was vietnam so wrong) to want to be "liberated" from capitalism and democracy

the wars we fight now are like major surgery

that is absurd
this war much like vietnam isn't a war at all
it's terrorism

and your rant about how you wish you were there so you could do your part
would change really fast once you got there and had to see the mangled corpses of women and children

one of my best friends is a vet from desert storm
and to hear some of the stories he's told about just that scenario could change your tune in about 10 mins

ask a guy like him
or any other vet who's went and killed for this country
and suffers that guilt on a daily basis
and now thanks to king george gets their support taken away from them
after he and the others have made our government and our corporations shit loads of money
i'd rather be your enemy than hear you call me friend

We were attacked by terrorists. Something that has occured VERY infrequently on US soil, and not always by foreign enemies. Those 9-11 terrorists were primarily Saudi and none were Iraqis.

Our initial response was going after the terrorists. Good move. But somehow we ended up dividing our efforts and instead attacking a country with no justification under false pretenses. As a result, the terrorists who attacked us remain free.
Well, we'll get to them someday.

How are we safer? Because there have not been any terrorist attacks in the US since 9-11? How many were there prior to 9-11? 3 or 4? And I am including OK City in that number.

Are we safer because we have coralled all of the terrorists in Iraq and are now shooting fish in a barrell? Maybe...Or have we just created the ultimate training and recruitng ground for new terrorists?

I do not think Bush and his cabinet are stupid. They diverted their attention to Iraq for better reasons than "they tried to kill my daddy." They went in to establish a permenant US presence in the Middle East. Think about it, all of our military bases are set up for Cold War / Post WWII scenerios. Focus needed to be shifted to new trouble spots. And the Mideast is a trouble spot, that does warrant our attention. But let's have some balls and be honest about our intentions from the beginning.

As far as the horrors that had been committed on the Iraqi people, we've been able to turn a pretty blind eye to Rwanda, the Sudan, and lately, Uzbekistan (because they let us put bases there). Man is inhumane. If we go into a country to intervene, it is because we have other motives. We choose our fights for our own potential gain, not to aid others.

Oh, and fuck bill clinton in his cheating lying ass too. Not one politician is worth a flying shit. You want proof, look at the state of health care and the insurance industry. The US is all about the continued manufacture of wealth, capitalism to the nth degree, and bullshit patriotic posturing which accomplishes nothing, but makes for damn good media coverage.

the orders sending me there
or possibly the disability that may remove me completely

i prefer not to, thanks - just know that some of the things you cited in your earlier post are not completely accurate (through no fault of your own, you were just repeating what you have heard and believed to be true) no one can really know until they are there.

i think b_ko said it best. bush, suck all of our dicks.
and for judas specifically...nothing bush EVER said EVER made sense. this is all just propaganda to shut us hippies up who don't like the war. do you know why they bombed our towers??? the american army slaughtered middle-eastern people with reckless abandon in desert storm (it's a non-stop disco, betcha it's nabisco). if iraq and albania came in here and slaughtered my family, i'd blow up a tower over there. fuckin right i would. you right-wing republican TOOL!!! you stand behind the most retarded man in the history of america, and he's leading us head-first into
a.) a big fat draft where YOU will be fighting and dying, and
b.) a final holy war which will have us all enjoying the wickedest parts of the bible, you know, the parts where blood rains on the streets of paradise and our commercialism and franchising and liberty and all those beautiful things will be gone, and you will be standing there holding a flag looking very stupid my friend. very stupid indeed

tools should be used, right?

Whoa dude, check yourself. While you may disagree with someone's political views, you don't have to call him a tool. I didn't see him calling you a pansy-ass tree-hugging moron, though after your comment, I support anyone's decision to do so.

No, the possibility of a draft has already been shot down. It won't happen.
