didn't look like they edited to much for the american release

they just dubbed it
the dubbs are really really really bad
and it's only dubbed in parts
and it's subbed in the rest
looks like to me they really half assed this just to get it out for the moved up second release date
(it was supposed to have come out stateside on valentines day)

i've seen the movie before
i'm sure some of you have too
so not much really to say

i think it's a great piece of work
it's the redemption of modern slasher films
that's for sure

everyone hates the end
but twist schmist i say

the last 20% of this movie holds the most brutal scene of the whole two hours in my opinion

The twist ruins the entire movie. There are some scenes that make absolutely no sense once the twist is revealed. It's like the writers had this great screenplay in mind, but couldn't come up with a good ending so they just tacked some crap on.

Overall, eh, I'm not crazy about it. Some of it makes you cringe (the brutality) and other parts make you cringe (in the "I'm so embarassed for everyone involved in this piece of shit" way).

Big fan of this one. That being said, I hear you about the twist Russo. Roger Ebert said something to the extent of "a plothole big enough to drive a truck through...As a matter of fact, they do drive a truck through it." :lol:

I forgive them for two reasons though. We've had so much lame watered down PG-13 horror lately, we really needed something to come and give us a kick in the ass, and this did it. It is harsh, and fucking nasty, and makes no pretiense at being hip or humorous. It is just in your face brutal. I miss that in horror movies - that shock value.

And also, the lead, Cecile De France. I am sorry, but goddamn that woman is just over the top gorgeous. If I like a character, I can forgive some looseness in the plot.

twist = it's all in her head
(think about it for a few mins, she's depraved , it's her viewpoint)

last 20% of the movie = the most brutal horror/gore in years
(you can't even deny it)

take it at face value
you would the classics

this burries 99% of most modern horror films

it's best slasher in years,maybe in a decade.....one that's already reaching cult status .....

but for some odd reason the past year or so(or those who just saw the dubbed version) the two things that everyone wants to point out are the ending(i personally have always enjoyed films that broke from the a-b formula.....that didn't feel like they had to wrap up things in a clean manner)and the similar theme to koontz's intensity(dean should be proud,i've seen phantoms)....not the brilliant entrance and bedroom scene,or the cat and mouse game at the store/gas station, the sheer brutality of the greenhouse(fuck i love that the shot of her w/ the club),or the tile saw scene which to me was the money shot.....

nothing should take away from the cinematic bliss this guy has given to a genre that needed it badly(well until lotd),after all the shit that's pumped out of holywood.... and he's the reason i'll watch the hills have eyes
remake(normally remakes don't exsist to me)

exactly............1st time i saw it,two things gave away what was happening or going to happen(plus it was at one time called switchblade romance).....

*spoilers* ahead*

the-"are you recording"scene (where there's no one in the room w/ her,they're looking at her through the glass)showed this was being told from her perspective(there's never a truck,car,or phillipe nahon,just her warped schizo version of the events as they happened)

and the- "you still have makeup on"conversation showed in a subtle way of marie's passion ........even after she found out there was someone else.........

the two together just meant trouble ahead :twisted:

that's why the last 20% of that movie will allways be my favorite
twist or not

i mean who really cares anyway about the story
it's a fuckin slasher movie

aren't slashers about mindless brutality and hot chicks
based on that formula this movie is A+++

with extra credit for awesome sound design
awesome soundtrack
and awesome fx

I watched it last night.....ohmyGod!!! I fucking loved it! The opening scene is what grabbed my attention(getting a little HEAD...Hoooly shiiit!) The whole movie was great, though I agree with Zeo on the subject of the music of the film. But the story was great, and I got the twist, and thought it was kewl, but slims the chance of a sequel to this blood and gorefest, which I would enjoy seeing. I will be buying the dubbed copy when it is released onto DVD. If you like slasher films with a ton of blood, see this one.
