Me and a bunch of friends from work all went to see this last night, and everyone really enjoyed it. I thought it was very true to the original in many ways...(the ill fortune of all the brats were basically the same) and the Oompa Loompas were ridiculous in a funny way, Danny Elfman did a wonderful score,(as usual) and Johnny Depp's Wonka was definitely out there and a real trip(in some scenes he reminds me of Hunter Thompson and a bit of Edward as well, and is a complete smart ass to the nondeserving children...(calling one brat a mumbler). I found it to be hilarious, but seeing the bad kids come out okay sucked a bit, rather than them just disappearing.
And the boatride could've been better , but all in all, I give it four out of five stars,(still a sucker for the original with Gene Wilder) so go see this one.
Live for today, it may be your last.
