NINE INCH NAILS - [WITH_TEETH]

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

When I first heard the whole album about two weeks ago, I really hated it.

When I listened to it again, I admit that the first and last songs are really good.

Everything in between is still AOR-for-the-Millennium crap. It says a lot that "The Hand That Feeds" is one of the BETTER songs out of those!

I'm thinking this will be his worst selling album by a pretty big margin.

It is a differant feel. I always go for the harder stuff. Nothing in the same line as Reptile on this disc. Nothing that gives me the same feel as Perfect Drug. It is good music but I won't be dancing to any of it unless there happens to be a harder remix album on the way. (Or maybe a couple of us could make one?)

thx zeo.

people already are making remixes of THTF.... :-x
only is next.... :-x :-x

and ive heard it all and other than the "my arms-a go-a flip flop flip" thing i think the album is pure fucking genious.

people bitched when the fragile came out, yet almost everyone i know owns it and its been played alot when noones around you can bet... but when it first dropped people hated it they said....
i think it took em a good three months to understand it personally.

the cd is fucking great, if you dont like it do what i do when i dont like music AND MAKE BETTER MUSIC THAT THE SHIT YOU HATE.

i honestly think peoples right to bitch about such things should be revoked unless they do something about it
if you dont vote, you cant complain about the government right?
well if you dont like an album or a scene, MAKE YOUR OWN, listen to it with your friends, and then you can all blow each other for all i care but at least youll have my respect.

i just think its hillarious that people get so up in arms everytime trent releases something.......... because hes not a drug addict pumping out another the downward spiral alot of people dont want him to keep making music.
thats as fucking sad as the trend-whore popculture fuckers in my book.... but thats just me and im sure someone has some stupid retort to justify why they are a unique slowflake.

in closing IF YOU DONT LIKE IT, DONT LISTEN.
IF YOU COMPLAIN, DO SOMETHING TO CHANGE THINGS.

I think people's right to bitch about other people's opinions being shared should be revoked. If you don't like my opinions on art, well goddamn it, make a new me and program it to say whatever you want it to!

Awesome, I'm glad you like the album. I don't.

So let me get this straight, what you are saying is, if people don't like this album, they can't say anything unless they can write music?

What?

So you are proposing that people no longer have freedom to express themselves w/regards to this album if they cannot write or arrange music?

What kind of dumb shit is that?

I didn't say that I didn't like it. I said that there are no dance tracks and it is a little lighter than my tastes expect from Trent. I don't write or make music, but I do have a good ear and plan on making a the DJ thing a side job. So I guess, in a way I'm into marketing bands that I like. I like NIN, but I'm not going to be playing many tracks off of this album (ever) because they are too slow or poorly put together (in my opinion).

no.
thats not what im saying.
and this response is not an attack at you (since you seem to think my first post was this time ill make sure i DIRECTLY TYPE ITS NOT.).... its just a better explanation to all.
i just kinda gave up typing up the rest, that was my mistake. i shoulda kept going with it. going back and rereading it, yea i can see i was giving off that vibe.
everyones entitled to an opinion, wholeheartedly agree.
its not the opinion part im bashing.
i just get tired of people that just complain
dont like something? then make music. support other music. dj better music. just do something other than just bitch.
like if you dj ? ok. thats doing something.
this scene just like any other puts so much stock into music but wont do shit to inform, just be a fuckin critic.
it bothers me, and if that makes me a dick? so be it.
i just think if your gonna put stock into the people that enhance your life and then trash everything else *which i do to by the way* then you should do your part in other places.
you dont have to make music or DJ it though.
just support something is the opinion i have.

dont tell me how bad it is if you cant do better. that doesnt mean you have to even make the music. show me whats better.
most people just complain, they dont promote, or talk about how this one cd theyve listened to 10,000 times actually enhanced their life. but if one of those artists who made that cd tears into ground the critics dont like........ boom. they attack like its a personal insult.
well show some respect somewhere ya know?
i posted that not as attack to anyone in particular on the board, when i post on the board i always (unless i QUOTE block someone) speak about the general state of affairs.
im so tired of every cd that comes out everyone complaining and those people never say hey what about this band or this cd or i hey i hate music like THIS so i made music that sounds like OPPOPSITEOFTHIS check it out tell me if you like it.

ill get off my soapbox, im just tired of people that have nothing but opinions and never show me substance.
anyone can create an opinion. and we are all entitled to.
but the music thing, the art thing, the lit thing, the movies as well... the apathy factor to whats going on has grown so big that noone will admit theres still music/lit/movies/art that inspires them. tell me something sucks, i withhold the right to disagree or call you a dumb cocksucker. show me substance in that statement, then we can engage in the lost art of conversation and maybe resume trying to build parts greater than a whole instead of a whole part that just bitches.

i type this response as much to person i quoted for it as i do to anyone else and im not replying to this thread again because arguing on the internet is retarded.
for more details see the first line of my sig.

See, what you posted is exactly the way I feel. I figured that's what you meant, but I had to make sure. If there's one thing I hate about the internet, it's that you aren't there in person to talk about shit. You have to make extra sure that you explain what you say and say what you mean. I mess that shit up all the time.

I wasn't trying to rag on you or anything man. Just read what you originally posted and was like, "What??"

Not had the time to hear the whole CD yet... that said I am not familiar with anything more than the first single..hand that feeds.

however, I do want to note that I hear the same thing every time Trent releases a new CD... "It sucks". So long as people continue to expect NIN to do another PHM, or Broken, or Fragile or what ever, the same thing will continue to be said. Admitedly I have been disappointed the first listen of every one of his new CDs that I carried that hope/expectation into. However following a few listens I came to love every CD. IMHO - Trent is one of the few popular "artists" out there. He continues to re-invent what he does every album, while still keeping that NIN sound. I have watched him grow musically since PHM and growing is exactly what he has done. Unlike so many bands in the world he has not set himself into a set formula that makes his sound (and there by everything sound the same, in the hopes to make big $). He explores what he wants in his CDs... to that end I give him super props, and why I still consider Trent one of my Favorite musicians.
I may not like the CD the first time I hear it. But I have learned to give his work a few listens before I scrap the CD.
If your waiting for trent to do another PHM or Broken... might as well quit listening to his stuff, it isn't likely to happen. If it does... thats when I will probably write Trent off...

BTW - If you really dislike his new stuff I am curious as to why. Reading "his new CD sucks" tells me (and others) absolutely nothing. If thats all you can say, might wanna try it as "it doesn't fit my tastes". At least that gives a reason as to why it sucks.
I tend to dislike Drum & Bass as I find it mind numbingly repetative and boring. That doesn't mean D&B sucks, it just doesn't fit in my ear. I need more than boom boom boom in my ears to get and keep my attention.

If you dislike the new NIN, CD please tell us why!

If you love it please do the same!

Much thanks to those that have tried to or done that already!

I hear the same thing every time a band releases a new CD. "People only don't like it because they want it to sound just like the old albums."

In my case, nothing could be further from the truth.

Amnesiac is my favorite Radiohead album. It didn't sound anything like OK Computer or the Bends.

My favorite REM album is New Adventures in Hi-Fi, which bears no resemblance to their "classic 80s albums".

I don't like With Teeth because I don't like it. I need another Pretty Hate Machine like I need another hole in my head like a hole.

I like the first and last songs. They're interesting.

The stuff in between just sounds too much like reasonably bland guitar rock. If I want to listen to guitar rock, I'll listen to The Kills. At least they're sexy, like The Cramps or Girls Against Boys are sexy.

I'll listen to it again, but I don't think my opinion will change.

All that said, I hate overdiscussing music. This is all just wanking Trent off. I don't like how someone like Trent can make a bad album and people STILL talk about it constantly, just because he's an "icon". I mean, Limp Bizkit and Tori Amos both made really, really bad albums recently and I didn't see everyone debating them to death.
I was born a bastard - and then I just got worse.

i give props to trent for evolving his sound. we already have a "downward spiral". personally i don't want another. each nin album to me has it's own "vibe". i dig that. i like the new stuff for what it is, i can't compare it to past albums.
