Nov 28th Sanctus Request List

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

Maybe you didn't get the memo, but this is widely believed to be a "goth" event...JK, your tastes are your tastes...

Ok, if anyone is gother than Johnny Cash, I want them found and shot right now.

But yes, these are my tastes. Do I realize they diverge signifigantly from the tastes of some other folk. Sure, that's why I have earplugs :) The "Scene" isn't about the music to me, it's pretty much about to the attractive women in fetish inspired clothing. Finding the "inner Darkness" or practicing of any paganistic religious beliefs don't really fall within my realm of philosophy. It's a social scene, and alot of folk feel that what binds it together is the music, the dance nights. Personally, music is something I can play myself if I care to listen to it, and I don't dance, so I'm far more inclined to be interested in the people, male and female alike. Besides, what's the worst that could happen if they played a little of my music.. everyone would go get a drink, and you might find out you actually LIKE Jpop :) Besides, I get to experince ya'll's musical tastes every event.. A post or two illustrating mine won't bloody hurt :)[/quote]

I happen to love Johnny Cash. I am also into Jpop. I'm into stuff like Shonen Knife, and who doesn't like Weird Al?? But, c'mon...Shania Twain??? George Straight??? Little Texas, Kenny Rogers and Garth fucking Brooks???

I have to honestly say that if those people, or anyone like them were played I would leave. And so would LOTS of others.

Music IS a huge part of this scene. It's not just about gawking at chicks in fetish clothing. WTF??? I'm sorry, but that is just a horrible reason to come and hang out.

They are all good songs, and were actually all chosen from my collection for distinct reasons. The mood and feeling they evoke, the topics they cover, relate in a very real way to some of the experiences I've had on the board and at the social settings. I'd be happy to explain in more detail, except that many of these are of a private nature, and I'm not about to go into them in detail here in a public forum. It's merely stuff "I" would find appealing, that would move "Me". I personally think that's a good enough reason to request, even if destined to be ignored, or taunted for it. If you have a problem with the fact that I'm not moved by Nirvana, find Marilyn Manson so much noise, and wouldn't know the Cruxshadows from Tupac.. Well, sorry not to fit into your box. I'm sure it's warm and cozy in there with all your like-minded friends :).

I have to honestly say that if those people, or anyone like them were played I would leave. And so would LOTS of others.

So you'd find an alternative point of view and alternative tastes so... disconcerting.. so repugnant.. So utterly incompatiable with your world view, that you would condemn all those who disagree with you and segregate yourself, and expect others to do the same. I won't even go into the comparisons here, I'm fairly sure it should be evident by this point.

Music IS a huge part of this scene.

That's your point of view. I'll respectfully retain my own. Individualism, a frightening concept, ne?

It's not just about gawking at chicks in fetish clothing.

Never said that was the sole extent of it. There's also talking to them, buying them drinks, and trying to get their phone numbers.

Seriously though, I think it's fairly evident that freedom to show your own personal beliefs without being mocked, or a kinship with other folks who understand what it is to be divergent from the mainstream is evidently lacking from the agendas of some. Yet these are honestly what I think of when I consider goth culture. If I wanted people to judge me for the music I listen to, the clothes I wear, or the movies I watch, I'd go to church. I happen to find the gothic styles, everything from peasant dresses to corsets both beautiful and alluring. I very much doubt anyone here is personally inclined to disagree with me. And if you take away freedom of individualism and freedom of expression from the scene, as you seem inclined to do.. What's left? Alot of lovely ladies of all shapes and sizes in all manner of garb meant to please the eye.. And a bunch of guys trying to hook up with them.

I'm sorry, but that is just a horrible reason to come and hang out.

I come and hang out because there are people I've met that I enjoy the company of, and respect, and I'm sure there are still more that I've yet to meet that I will feel the same appreciation for in the future. Your "criteria" for attending a goth event may well be something you follow with strict and utter devotion. Just don't expect everyone to agree with it.

Ya know, this is just silly anyway.

Part of my point, is sanctus is a gothic/industrial/darkwave night. It's not that I don't respect other people's tastes...it's just not that kind of night. I don't expect Marilyn Manson to be played at Cotton Eyed Joes, ya know? And, if that's closed minded to you, then oh well.

I have no "criteria" for attending a goth night. Please, do not put words into my mouth. Hell, I don't even consider myself a "goth". (I know, how goth of me...heh)

I enjoy the "goth scene", because it allows me to find like minded individuals. People who enjoy similar music, have similar tastes in books, films etc...

And yes, there are pretty people in our scene. I can enjoy beauty too....

But, I found your comment (The "Scene" isn't about the music to me, it's pretty much about to the attractive women in fetish inspired clothing.)...sexist, and I had hoped you were joking.

And, I feel highly disrespected by what you have said. I am the last person to judge someone....The only friend that is into the same shit as I am is my boyfriend. And, yes, it is warm and cozy in our little fucking box.

:::So you'd find an alternative point of view and alternative tastes so... disconcerting.. so repugnant.. So utterly incompatiable with your world view, that you would condemn all those who disagree with you and segregate yourself, and expect others to do the same. I won't even go into the comparisons here, I'm fairly sure it should be evident by this point.:::

Where the hell did you get this? All from two sentences?? I have never condemned anyone for their beliefs, or tastes...Alot of people DO disagree with me. You think you have me pegged, know what I'm like...but you are dead wrong.

:::Individualism, a frightening concept, ne? :::

Again, why say things like this to me??? You THINK you "know" me, but you don't. I am the last person on earth that would ever get in the way of someone's individualism. That was an extremely disrespectful comment.

And, I never said music was everything. But it IS a huge part. Like it or not.

My criteria for attending a goth event? Where the hell did you get that???????

What the fuck ever!

Okay...
Enough of the critqueing requests and reasons for being on "The Scene".

Point of this thread is for song requests for Sanctus. If ya got a request post it. HOWEVER note that requests are just that...requests.
We do our best to play as many of them as we can. If a request doesn't fit, or is likely to put an energy kill on the night it proabaly won't get played... Please note we also get an ASSLOAD of requests both online and at Sanctus. We can't play all of them even if we wanted too. Just not enough time in the night.
For those of you who make some unusual or unknown requests - GET THERE EARLY!!!!! We tend to use the early part of the night to try music that we are unsure of response to but think the "scene" might like. Middle of the night gets the heavy hitters and end o the night you just have no idea what might happen.
We the DJs try to do the best we can to make it all work and make as many of you as we can happy. We can't please all the people all the time, it just won't happen. Too many varied tastes. We do try and please as many of you as we can.

Now let's get back to the point of this thread... song requests.
Thanks
