If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

OK the big question i have as i return to my life is where to begin? Any suggestions? good music? movies? clothes? tv shows?

since i have been asked to come saturday, i will come out and meet some of you. i will be EASY to spot... the one that looks out of place and alone. :) being naturally shy (at least i think i am been a long time). I think that will be a good place to start.

I believe I am confused as to what your question is.

Are you asking suggestions for what you should watch, wear, do, etc? If so, here you go:

Shop - Goodwill, cheap and comfty
Hottopic, everyone looks good in black

Watch - I love Law and Order, Trigger Happy TV, C.S.I.

Listen - The Cure never goes out of style. MM, Tori Amos, DCD, LPD, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Morrissey, VNV Nation, Apoptygma Berzerk. It really depends on your taste.

Do? Go to Temple @Amnesia on Clinton Hwy on Saturday night at 9 pm. :)

Get tattooed, it never goes out of style.

*my two cents*

i am a confused person at the moment :)

basically there comes a time when a person must stop looking at something and start acting. I am tired of feeling alone in the world, and want to start living life. You know it is easy to sit here and type and say anything, but to actually go out and do something is another story. It may take someone behind me pushing and someone in front pulling but i want to get on with life.

It is like there is something inside me that has been dying to get out for a long time and i now want to embrace it, but do not know where to start. yes i am too old for this i know :) so tell me what you all like and i will check it out time permitting.

OMFG just ignore me I am a mess :)

If you feel alone then you should come to the 11th Street Coffee House on Friday. :coffee: People get there around 8pm or 9pm. We just sit and talk about stuff. I don't talk much. I just listen alot.

Hmmm, let's see.

Music
I would have to know more about what your preference in music was to give you a better idea to start. As far as music that is somewhat "goth" in nature, I would suggest the following as a start.
Check out the "To Everyone Who Goes Out" thread for some personal choices on "danceable" music. Check out the Music forum on this site for a little bit of everything else regarding personal choices on music. If you are looking at club type music, my other recommendations would be to check out the playlists from Sanctus and Temple as well as other clubs' playlists from across the nation. Some of the dance music will lead you to finding other things by the same artist that you will like.

Movies
Once again, I would have to know what kind of genre you prefer. I have my personal preferences, but that's not to say that they would be to your liking.

Clothes
In Knoxville, my suggestion would be http://www.ebay.com
Then again, I am an addict to that site.

TV Shows
I also have to agree with CSI, but I also have to add NCIS. Its a pretty good show, not to mention, the character that plays the forensics specialist is a bonus. (Picture babydoll T shirt, bondage pants, collar, black hair in pig tails, white lab coat, wicked sense of humor, lots of intelligence and usually plugging some goth/industrial band.) At least I know where half of the men I know are at on Tuesday at 8 PM.
I'm not wicked. I'm just viciously mischievous.

I'm glad somebody else watches this show. Although, I didn't get into it for that, the character interactions are great.

Shop : if you are desperate for somthing for this weekend you could stoop to going to Hot Topic.... but if you got the time to wait i would say go to fuckthemainstreem.com if that is the wrong webpage there is a link for it at vampirefreaks.com
O and you can alays find some good stuff at small thrift shops

Movies : i like cheep horor movies and stuff like kinda like seven but my fave is a underground type of movie called troma.... basically verry bad horor ....

My suggestion:

Take everything that you enjoy and darken it up a little. Turn the volume up to a higher level and embrace the idea of living every fucking moment like it is your last.

Ok, for a slightly alternative perspective to what's been presented..

Where to begin.. Well here of course! You've already managed that, so let's move on to..

Any suggestions.. Oh, plenty! Don't run with scissors. Do compliment her on her breasts. She may slap you, but at least you'll know you deserved it, and honesty points always add up. Don't stare at her breasts unless it's obvious she's trying to show them off. And then do, but make sure you look away occasionally, to note things like eye color, expression, and whether or not she's still awake. Always get drinks at the front bar.. I don't know why, but somebody told me somebody said that. Don't listen to what everyone tells you, if what they were talking about were so valuable, would they really be sharing? Don't beat your kids.. They usually grow up bigger than you and might hold a grudge. Do introduce your kids to your friends. You know they're bound to do stupid shit, and this improves the chances of you hearing about it. That goes both ways btw. Do start your day with humor. No day can be all bad if you start it with an honest laugh. Don't end your day with humor.. You'll wake the kids. Do give yourself some time alone to pursue hobbies or interests. Don't try to feign interest just so you're not alone. Do be open to new experiences. Don't be shy speaking up when you realize they're not for you. Do watch B movies for the cult value. Don't form a cult from the scripts of B movies. And finally: Do read my posts. Don't take them too terribly seriously ;)

Good music.. Weird Al, They Might Be Giants, Daft Punk, Anything by Willie, Waylon, George, Garth, David Allan Coe, or Jerry Jeff walker, or the late Mr. Cash. Anything Dr. Demento's ever played. Anything foreign that sounds pretty, because at least you won't go mad trying to figure out what they're saying. The Brilliant Green, because if you do go mad, it should be over a red haired green eyed japanese girl in european plate mail. And Motherfucking Lords of Acid, because I damned well said so!

Movies.. B movies are best. They're cheaper, and while the special effects might not be up with Hollywood's cream of the crop, their scripts are usually a few steps above. Anything by Sam Raimi, or starring Bruce Campbell. Anything foreign, expecially Itallian, Japanese, Chinese, or French. Stay away from anything that attempts to sell itself through sex. It'll suck. If you want sex in a movie, look for the ones that try to sell you on having a plot. They don't, but there's lots of sex to compensate. Anything Jackie Chan ever made, particularly early in his career. Fearless Hyena rocks, and even Spiritual Kung Fu has its redeeming value. Young Master and Drunken Master are both must-haves. Anything by Kevin Smith. Anything by Miyazaki or based on the works of Rumiko Takahashi. Don't know who they are? Now's a fine time to learn, and Google is your friend.

Clothes.. Wear whatever's comfortable. Seriously, life's enough of a hassle without wearing something you don't feel yourself in. If people don't like you for how you're dressed, all the better. Saves you the time of having to learn how bloody shallow they are first hand.

Tv Shows.. Don't bother. Seriously. That stuff'll rot your brain. If you insist, stick to Scifi, Cartoon Network, and The Action Channel. And late nights, Food Network. They're not any better, but you can tell me what I've been missing.

As for Saturday.. you'll want to clarify your description a little bit. There's too many of us looking out of place, hopelessly lost, and/or terminally shy. I'll be the tall one staring at a gameboy advance or with his eyes shut on whatever random piece of furniture he can find to recline on.

Instead of trying oh, so desprately to answer a question that I never could...how about I ask you some questions? I'm not gonna tell you what to do, but maybe I can give you some good suggestions...

What kinds of music do you listen to now?
Do you like:
*Metal
*Techno
*Punk
*Emo
*Country
*Rap
-What's your flavor?

As far as movies, check out the Old horror films... White Zombie, Nosferatu, & the like...Also check out the new "Goth-Inspired" movies...The Matrix, Underworld, The Breed, ect...

Clothes:

For style, it should refect how you feel...Don't just wear something because it's black...live it.

Talk to you later...

Wow :) you guys are great... and some of the post are humorous :)

my taste in music is extremely varied....... extremely

starting with the stuff my parents listened to: Johnny rivers, willy & walon, kenny rogers, conway twitty.... ( though that will probably end the country list there)

I was into death metal and most metal music before my wife...

and now i like techno (lords of acid rock), alternative, mainstream rock, along with all the others. Concrete blonde (bloodletting) is what i have been listening to for a couple of days now. I LOVE HER VOICE.. RAWR......

hmmm to make it real simple i like and prefer almost anything, i am never afraid to try something new (except talking to people :( )... I like all genres of movies especially B SCI-FI and Horror movies (but i get sceared if i am alone.. i can not believe i am saying that by the way) anything dark and twisted, anything romantic, action blah blah blah..

i have been in a cave for the past 9 years and i am not sure whatall is out now :)

BTW CSI ROCKS (network security and forensics major myself)

Dude, you sound freakin' cool. My kinda people. I'll look for you come Saturday and introduce myself.. So, you know, if you get burned out on the lovely ladies and rhythmic beat, you'll have someone who has trouble holding up his end of a conversation to talk to :P

Btw, yes, I did forget Lords of Acid in my first edit of my last post. I have since corrected it, and repeatedly kicked myself.. I KNEW I'd forgotten somebody. Bad Lorne! Bad!
