so... i have a paper due tomorrow that needs to present a fresh critical analysis of mary shelley's frankenstein. i think, what i would *like* to do, is examine the identification process of the 'modern gothic' movement with the 'historical gothic' movement -- show the threads that bind these two very similar countercultural phenomena together -- and somehow tie that in with the actual physical text of frankenstein.
yeah, i might be stretching a bit here. but as far as i can tell, that's what english graduate students are *supposed* to do.
on that note... anyone sitting up late tonight, with nothing else to do, have any random thoughts, ideas, links, personal stories, favourite passages, etc. that might assist this theme?
thanks in advance for any ideas!

come away, o human child!
to the waters and the wild
with a faery, hand in hand,
for the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.

woooohooo procrastination!
w00t! i'm all about me some procrastination. pretty much how i've spent most of the night.
however, as i was walking through my apartment, i saw my poster of edward scissorhands and thought: 'eureka!' so now i'm working on comparing and constrasting 19th century gothic culture with 20th century gothic culture by examining the similarities and differences between frankenstein and edward scissorhands.
even though... i think i'm going to need sleep. at least an hour. or two.
are you a UT student as well, buttercup?
