Sundown
Got home about an hour ago from Sundown in the City. (left early to avoid the rush of drunk people crowding the street.) I've never gone before, but dissapointed that it was so crowded. No place to sit near the stage, huge lines at vendors. Plus the pot-a-pottys (scary! But finally found a bathroom in the bookstore), and definately no fun to be smothered by hippies.
Was it just because it was the opening night, or is it always like that? If not, I would love to go again. Wasn't my kind of music, but it was good for what it was, and would be fun to dance or just relax. And if I saw any of ya'll there (don't know anyone's face) then a belated "Hello!"

Last summer they had it behind the ThinQ Tank and there was absolutely no room, so not as many people came. I would venture to say it was so crowded due to it being a combination of opening night, mass promotion, and having nothing else to do.
Gossip's worth its weight in gold.

I JUST got home from work after Sundown. We got destroyed. They had scheduled for a regular Thursday, 2 Bartenders, our 3 newest servers and one kitchen guy. Round about 9:30 it came down on us. It was all my partner could do to make the drinks ordered through the servers, then I had to get everyone else who couldn't get a servers attenoin in addition to the normal bar crowd. Ooch. Think we gave a good impression though for the most part. When your bartender is taking 5 orders from different people at a time without writing anything down and carrying 3 pints of harp, 2 Jagermeisters, and a Maker's and coke all at the same time, you know they're working their butts off for ya. We had a pretty good crowd at the Urban though. Some were cranky but as long as you make them feel like you were busting your butt to get to them they tended to be grateful when they were served. This was definitely one of the hardest shifts I've ever worked. Haven't slept or hardly eaten for about three days and... oh let's just say it was a bad day. BUT I took real good care of a lot of people tonight and I actually enjoyed doing so and look forward to next week when we're actually prepared for that volume so I can do even better and have more fun with the crowd. If it gets too crowded up at MS come on down to the Urban (teasingly) We have 2 dollar Guuuuiiiiness . Actually everything on draft is 2 bucks all day on Wednesday and Thursday, Guiness, Bass, Harp, Black Velvets, Black and Tans, Half and Halfs, you name it. NOW... I am going to shut up, because I just realized I'm starting to sound like a blasted commercial. So good night and come up to the bar and say hi to the poor monkey behind the bar if you find yourself at the urban.
OOK!
OOK!
