Donald Rumsfeld caught lying about the war ... ON CAMERA!

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

Donald Rumsfeld caught lying about the war ... ON CAMERA!

Post by Synthpopalooza »

Ok, Mr. Rumsfeld, try to lie your way out of this one:

http://www.moveon.org/news/caughtoncamera.html

Our secretary of defense not only contradicts his own statements about the war, but the evidence is on camera for all to see! This appeared recently on the CBS show "Face the Nation".

You know, this would all be funny and laughable, were it not for the fact that people are getting killed in Iraq every single day now, because of his folly. If this isn't reason enough why Bush has got to go, I don't know what is.

Have we all forgotten that the man we removed from power killed children and his own people.War is always a bad thing but in the case was beyond just. This war is like surgery while we dont want to remove something and its going to hurt.In the long run it will make our lives a whole lot better.

That may be ... and I am not saying Saddam was a nice guy.

But there are many, many, many other dictators out there just like him. Is it our responsibility to go in and kick the ass of every tinpot dictator in the world who terrorizes his own people? If we did, we'd always be at war.

Don't forget also, that the republican Reagan-Bush administration gave money to Saddam back in the 80's as well, and helped make him into the madman monster he was in the 90's.

I feel our war on terror would have been better served trying to get Bin Laden and the ones who are actually doing all this crap. Instead, we've alienated our allies, angered the moderate Arab world, and most likely pushed them into the terrorist camp.

Unfortunately, we can't undo this mess we've made. We're there, it's done. We're stuck with the cleanup bill. But I think that the Bush administration needs to be held accountable for lying to us about the reasons for leading us into this war. We weren't given the whole picture.

No see here is the issue.

HE LIED TO THE AMERICIAN PEOPLE.

The UN told him that iraq had no weapons of mass destruction. See, they terrified the Americian people, so that little bushy-poo could get his way. He will pay for lying to the Americian people. People are pissed all around. See, now he's changed his story as to why we went to war, that's why people are pissed off about this. He Lied, he got CAUGHT in his lie, and the media is only giving a bias story. You know its sad when Man Cow, and Bill O'Riely hate Bush.

One thing I really like about being in California is that there's alot more political consciousness. Apart from habitually voting in actors to public office, it's generally recognized that politicians are scum and it's generally agreed upon what their motivations are - whereas in Tennessee I always noticed that you simply couldn't express some ideas in public without everyone in the room getting angry and insulting you for some difference in physical attributes or some other banal topic.

Case in point: in the subway trains here there's ads featuring a picture of Don Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam in the late 80's when we helped him use chemical weapons on 'his own people' and children by giving him tactical information and, well, the chemical weapons. It's in the SUBWAY, for god's sake!

Well, as far as people in Tennessee getting offended by expressing your political viewpoints, I guess it depends on where you go. I can honestly say that the great majority of my family are as pissed off about this as I am. My parents have been strongly Democrat, and I would say only once have they ever voted a Republican president (and that was Nixon in 1968). In fact, my dad has been a strong union supporter from his days working with Southern Railway ... so you know he's no fan of Bush and his cronies.

I'm considering looking up a Kerry or Anti-bush group here in Knoxville and seeing if I can meet up with them. It's psychologically reassuring to know that there are some people, even here in the South, who feel the same way you do about this situation.

Hey, Synth', if you're looking for Kerry supporters, anti-Bush activists, outright anarchists, vegans, militant animal rights activists, and even a few smelly hippies, look no further than KFAR 90.9. Everyone there is adamantly anti-Bush. I know one of the djs, Pardo, organizes voter registration drives. Go to http://www.kfar.org. The main site is down for relocation at the moment, but you can still reach the message boards. I believe there is a thread on there about one of Pardo's registration drives. Just send him an email or leave a message on the board and he should be able to tell you everything you need to know. Also, if you're looking for real news, kfar is the only place to find it. I'm not sure of all the times for the news shows, but I know that Democracy Now (a show that was banned from all NPR stations because it presented commentary from Mumia, a black journalist on death row) comes on at noon before my show, Monday through Friday. It's damn good stuff and more informative than any of the corporate newspapers or news shows.
And don't forget the kfar benefit at the Pilot Light this Sunday. It starts at 8:00, two hours before Sanctus, so be sure to drop by.
