Answer to number two: I see an avatar

I don't see an avatar...but I'm at the library...

Coor...I plan on going, but depending on what time you get off work, no one might be there then...we'll figure it out.

At first I could not see the picture. I then checked the URL to make sure it was working properly. It was so I right clicked thew red X and clicked show picture. That seemed to fix the issue.
blindboy wrote:yeah but its probably just pulling the pic from cache now. think the pic was inserted into her profile wrong? or the site doesn't allow offsite images. *shrugs* :\
I checked that and it seemed fine, if you put iht url of the avatar in a browser address bar, it comes up fine. I'll check the profile sectionjust to be sure though. I think it's a cashe issue to do with the outage.

Forgive me, but I'm technologically retarded.
Alot of ISPs and web servers save images and such for a limited time once a user has accessed them from another part of the web. The reason for this is that it makes bringing up the page you requested faster.
...which from the point of web application development is an aberration of responsibility. To date I have yet to encounter a single webpage caching mechanism that didn't clobber web applications horribly. Mind you this is partly due to the web application developers not accounting for the possibility of a web cache engine. However more often than not the web caching engine is over zealous in caching http traffic and does naughty things like cache authentication tokens, application level cookies, and other extraneous bits of http that break things. Additionally the web cache engines often mismanage the state of a dynamic page (like the Knoxgothic forum) and do not provide the latest version. So on a service by service basis people can run into these kinds of issues.

this is from the website that you have that picture on. they probably have the ability for people to link to their graphics disabled.
