Mr. Rogers

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

Would you be my,
Could you be my,
Won't you be...
My neighbor?

So long, neighbor.

It's like a large part of my childhood just died. Sleep peacefully in the Land of Makebelieve, neighbor.

When I was pregnant with my Nick, I said to my mom that I would never let my child watch Barney.

She replied: "Never say never. I swore you would never watch Mr. Rogers and it was the only thing you would watch."

I *heart* me some Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.

Gosh, first Jim Henson and now Mr. Rogers... what are we adult children supposed to do?
Sure, I'll try to be nicer, if you try to be smarter.

Whenever I'm asked "Who would you most want to meet, living or dead?" My first answer is almost always Jim Henson. The way he died was a travesty. It was a complete failure on the part of the medical community.

It's sad that Fred is gone, but he was a decent age and had stomach cancer. His death ended quite a bit of suffering for himself.

Start taping Mr. Roger's show before they take it off the air, and try to sell it episode by episode...
That is what they are doing with the Muppets...

I always thought he was creepy. Because he was always so nice.
My kids love his show though.
In a twisted way, so did I.

Rest well, Mr. Rogers.

My mom hated Mr. Rogers- I could only watch it when I was at my Gramma's house... Gosh, sure does bring back memories.
Ding ding, ding ding- "Goodbye, Trolley..."

I was going to start a thread on this, but now I don't have to. Is there ANYONE on this board that remembers the twiddle bugs on Sesame Street? I know I did not imagine them, but I've never been able to find anyone that remembered them. They were my fav.

I loved the Electric Company and Mr. Rogers, too.

RIP, Fred.

I think so. It's been a while since I watched Sesame Street avidly.... Were they the bugs that lived in... Ernie's? windowbox? It was someone's windowbox.

I liked Mr. Rogers. He was nice. Rest in Peace.
Don't listen to that guy! He's gonna lead you down the path of righteousness. I'm gonna lead you down the path that rocks!

The Twiddle Bugs lived in a milk carton house in Ernie's window box.

My fav. Sesame Street character was the Amazing Mumford, "Ah la Peanut Butter Sandwiches!"

My mom, also, hated Mr. Rogers, but I didn't know it at the time. I loved him. Lily watches him, and I always sing along with "You are my friend, you are special, special to me..." et al. I have a kick ass Mr. Rogers book I got at a junk store a few years ago.

I always thought that I'd like to meet him. As recently as a week ago, I mentioned to someone that I was going to try to mail Mr. Rogers, to thank him. It's too late now.

He was my friend.
He was special,
special to me....

Shari Lewis did lambchop and the song that didnt end...

capt kangaroo was on for along time. and then when the orginal dies, he was replaced and it fell apsrt after that.
i liked gerladine the giraffe...

the twiddle bugs and the honkers were cool.
and the two headed beast thing...

but my favorite on sesame street was slimy the worm and the swedish chef who was on the muppet show at the same time.

The Captain is apparently alive - age 75.

on the other hand:

Hugh "Lumpy" Brannum b. 1909 d. 1987
- Mr. Green Jeans on Captain Kangaroo

And to throw some comedy in (warning - might be considered an iblis link):
