MENTORS
Ok call me crazy but here's and idea. Many new people come onto this site by dumb luck. You know, just stumbled upon it while browsing the net. Some through people they know already in the scene. Ok, how about MENTORS! HUH HUH? Try to actually help someone out in learning the complex hierarchy and etiquette of the site.I think alot of attacks will stop.Well, most of them. And no, I didn't put up another stupid poll.

Nobody's perfect, especially the one I'm occupying at the moment.

I'm not sure about a hiearchy of people...I mean i know htere's talk of one but I'm not sure what it is they are supposed to do or what the benefits are. Do they get a discount for cloves? Are there requested songs the most likely to be played?
I know there are cliques but i've never been convinced about the importance of them.
Anyway...To all the newbies just be polite and when you argue try to do it with a air of civility.

I personally think that mentoring would be a good way to at least make the newbies feel more like they aren't in a foreign land of strangers who want to see them hurt. If anyone needs some one to talk to, as many of you know, I do not turn people away , but don't expect me to sugar coat anything and always expect me to give it to you straight. Consider me a confidant and an ally, and if you are old enough a drinking buddy.

Truer words were never said. That was beautiful, man. Truly brought a tear to my eye. I like you, you're pretty cool.

We've got some really good people around here, if you take some time to get to know them.
If I may offer you a pearl of my own wisdom, then I'd say to make a real effort to not go on the defensive. I know it may be difficult at times, when you aren't sure what a comment was really supposed to mean. You may think, "Are they trying to fukk with me here?" But, as I have to tell the old man alot, don't assume that someone meant you harm. Always try to assume the best about people, especially ones you don't know very well.
There are so many vastly different methods and styles of communication, that it's often hard to know what the meaning of a comment really is. Especially over the impersonal PC, you have no idea what voice inflection to inject or what kind of sense of humor the person who said something possesses.
Also important would be the necessity of not hitting back, so to speak. If you do feel that someone has delivered an unkind comment to you, that doesn't mean that 2 wrongs make a right. Prehaps the person was having a bad day, or just has a truly twisted sense of humor. Going off on someone only insures that the person is now officially your adversary. Life throws enough B.S. at us without us needing to make more.
When someone hurts my feelings, I try to walk away. If they really don't care for me, I don't want to impose myself where I'm not wanted. If I'm wrong & they do care about my feelings, then evetually they'll come around. I wouldn't want to ruin their effort to make peace by staying pissy with them needlessly.
Of course all this hippy shit flies out the window if anyone messes with my family. Mama Mo protects her little fam like a tiger. But really, don't waste your energy making enemies when you could be making friends. Eventually life will teach to regret that kind of thing.
Love to all Knox Goths!
