mmmm nori... tasty seaweedy goodness it is, it AIN'T just for sushi no more!
These nori chips are high in salt, fat, and spice.
You will need:
3 sheets nori
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup soy sauce
red pepper flakes
toasted sesame seeds
sesame oil (if you don't have this, it's OK)
******************
Set oven to 350 degrees.
Whisk vegetable oil, soy sauce, and a dash sesame oil together in a bowl. Add red pepper flakes (however much you feel you can handle) and whisk again, very briskly, and set aside.
Tear nori into 3 strips per sheet and place on a wax-papered cookie sheet. Brush oil mixture over nori strips, sprinkle liberally with sesame seeds, and place in oven to toast. If you like salty snax, sprinkle with salt too.
After 10 minutes, turn nori and brush and sprinkle again, and toast another 10 minutes.
You may want to drain them on a paper towel once they're done.
Break them into chip-sized pieces. The oven toasting turns the nori from dark green to almost black, so they have a "goffy" look to them.
Mmmmmmmm, great with hot sake!
