I have to draw a line somewhere. "Serving" this country is ONE OF THE MOST disgusting thingS any person could be involved in.

KILLING IS WRONG, PERIOD. You have no right whatsoever to kill another human being. I don't care what they're shooting at you. It was your choice to go there.

If you do in fact live in the US, think about the fact that the men and women who have signed up to serve in the military allows you to still live in this country and keeps you from being sent to war through a draft. If you think the government is so evil, don't you think they wouldn't have a problem rounding you up and sticking you on the front of the firing lines? Many people years ago didn't have the option of saying they would like to go or not go into war because of the US draft. If you can't have gratitude, at least show a little respect. If it weren't for them being in the military, it could have very well been you over there, and you might not be living at this time to have the freedom and luxury of posting to the board.

Also, since its so important for you to share your opinions with the rest of the world (or at least this board) about the government, you might be a little grateful for your freedom of speech. I realize that the men and women who are in Iraq might be there because of a big political issue; however, its not like they are able to pick and choose which assignments to take. Most of these men and women were already in the military before the issue in Iraq escalated. The ultimate point is that they signed up to defend our nation. I would hate the thought of someone being able to come to the US, take it over and lose everything that has become my way of life. If we didn't have a military to defend the country, that would be quite possible. It still is possible, but at least we have a fighting chance with the military.

Personally, I am grateful to all of the men and women in the military. Its not their choice to get involved with politics, but it was their choice to put forth their effort to keep all of us safe.

On another note, expressing opinions and creating debates can be a learning experience for all involved. Being a complete asshole never helps anything.
