I'd like to have a gearhead/ tech section for car people. I know there are quite a few car people and bikers in the group. Anyone else interested?
I talked to Vader and I'd like to see how many folks are interested in this section besides me.
CotD?, CelticSmith?, anyone else?

At least that way when someone asks me about forging iron or casting silver and all the stuff in between...I'll have a place to post it besides the general section.
Somthing a little heavier than crafts.
Perhaps we could have Bone and Vampilot be our version of the Cartalk guys....
"We need to get a sticker for that Harley that says "The parts seen falling off of this bike are made with the finest of American craftsmanship"".

I'm all for it! I don't know how much I could contribute unless we were talking polishing techniques. (Shaddup!) I love reading about this stuff though.
i'm game

Well, if theres a car section, then there will need to be a, uh, Star Wars section, then a section for people who like beanie babies, people that are into guns, people that are into dead babies, a forum for people who like to be shit on by fat women...etc, etc. I'd say you need a good 25% of the board members to be interested in order to justify a whole section.
Why don't you put up a poll homes?

Must second The Fallen on that one.
I think it would be good to have one, hell i found out about you all at AutoZone believe it or not.
SO gearheads are worth knowing, and beiseds i like to know gearheads esspecially when i get the cash to find me a REAL CAR not one of these fiberglass things that get 40 mi to the gallon, i want a real car as in a muscle car from the late 60's to early 70's where if you bumped a buggy the buggy would be dented and not your car.

*laugh*
I think a gear head forum would be good. I don't know that I'd call it a car forum since most people seem to be more Bike oriented. Though I love old cars and once I have the space I want to restore a 68 camaro RS. I lurve that car. Anywho.. yeah I'm down with a new forum.

Autozone? Do tell.
All Corvettes have fiberglass bodies.
Plastic is the product of choice for import car builders, and carbon fiber for light weight high strenght stuff and for riceing up your car.
Don't forget the wing.

Believe it or not, I'm for it. I might be able to get Mr. Shaper on here. He's got a Honda that he's been modifying bit by bit for the last 2 years, (Yes it has a wing!) & I've been helping. I sewed a new shift boot & helped glue vynl & such. We've started working on security boxes for both our cars now. We had a lot of break ins at our last apt.

I'll show you heavy... I own power tools!
Anyway, I like the idea because it seems to me that it would reflect community interests. We seem to have developed a nice little community.

You're f@#%in'-A right we should have a gearhead forum! In fact, I can't believe I haven't brought this up myself before now. I am a HUGE musclecar fanatic! I guess I never expected to encounter other gearheads in a "gothic" (it's a handy label and part of the forum's name, so leave it be, people) forum. There
is a decided lack of testosterone in our little scene. I think we need to invest in some kind of octane booster.
Anoki- You are so f@#%ing cool. Indeed, what car was ever cooler than a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro? None. I wish you could have seen mine before I sold it to pay off the credit cards of a fickle woman. That car ate Porsches. I used to have to pick the sauerkraut out of the grill. I still have my 1994 Camaro Z-28, though, and it really hauls ass. I am currently working up funds to build another '68. I am a comprehensive Camaro expert. If you get around to a project, I will be more than glad to help you out, as I have learned most or all of the potential pitfalls the hard way. Look at this '68 Yenko Super Camaro. There's a 580hp, 427 cubic inch L-88 big block V-8 under that ram-air hood!
Creapy- Corvette and Camaro lore overlap, so I am, by default, something of a Corvette expert, as well. The current Corvette (C5) is skinned in what Chevrolet has called SMC (sheet-molded compound). It's similar to both common fibreglass and carbon-fibre, and superior to plain ol' plastic.

Ok my Autozone story here goes:
Well my car's fuel pump went out and i had to go to Autozone to get another one and i was dressed normal and this guy that was ringing me up made that i looked cool, and the fact that it's hard to find stuff like that around here, here bing Middlesburro Kentucky. He told me about the Asylum night and told me to check out Knoxgothic, he said everyone at KG were great and said that i would love to check out the Asylum night, so i got on Knoxgothic and then got directions to the very next asylum.
When i showed up there i was embraced by the group and i fell in love with the people and i must really thank The Fallen and BearDragonLady for really making me feel like part of the group.
and as they say..... the rest is history.

Nice rides guys, i'm actually looking for a 1970 Chevelle SS, preferably with a 454 in it. Or at least the body i don't really care if it need's painted but that's what i'm looking for. I'm wanting one that i can rebuild or restore.
I love getting my hands dirty that's half the fun of having a nice car, working on it making it yours, making sure you know every piece on that car.

Hey! Watch it with the kraut remarks bruiser! Just because the KG and the 914 run off hamster power doesn't make them inferior. It's just less expensive to buy a new hamster or two (unless the hamster has to have the Porsche emblem on it.)
