When to use it...when not to.

Apparently I put it on everything, so I'm asking you cookaholics...when is it appropiate? What kind of dishes is it best in?

It's best in the ones it tastes good in.

Seriously - unless you're trying to cook from a recipe, there are NO RULES other than the one important one.

Make it taste good.

My basil plant went OUT OF CONTROL. I used it in everything. Especially good with scrambled eggs, or to dress up a frozen pizza.

Basil's good in most things, but especially pastas, soups (mostly chicken or tomato based), tomato-based sauces, and as a seasoning for poultry or fish. It's very good when put in as a stuffing for chicken, or chopped fine and mixed with dill and a few other herbs and crushed cornflakes to make a crust for oven baked fish. It really seems to do best in Italian dishes and fish/bird dishes.

Thanks...I'll have to try the fish crust buisness. I am attempting to learn to cook things one at a time. I have the pasta down pretty well now. Shut up fuckers! I'm about as domestic as an inmate...So now I'm trying to cook Salmon...
