Ok... we all hate the horror that is the Anti-Goth ( ya know.. the sun...) So as a simple fix this is what I've done.

Wal-Mart!! They always have fabric on sale for a dollar a yard. Go and find some nice thick black fabric. Be sure to hold it up to the light to see if it sufficiently blocks out the light. Get enough to cover the window in queston. Run over to the other part of the craft section and get some double sided sticky backed velcro.

Hem the edges of the fabric so it wont fray then sew a square of velcro to each corner and a square in the middle of each side. Attach the cloth to the window, then put up your favorite curtains..

Tada! Instadark!

Denim works quite well for this. (I'm using it now)

Also, I've used felt (you know, the kind that is sticky on one side) to cover the actual glass of a window, and then put a better looking piece of fabric over it, thus completely eliminating any icky sunlight that may want to leak through your defenses.

I just used some of that thick landscaping plastic and stapled it. then I used black shower curtains as drapes. (its pretty)

but black doesnt match my pink carpet I do need new curtians though. Even though I'm not gothic I have problems with the sun

If you've GOT to keep the pink carpet, try using a THICK white material on your windows.

Epsically because it matches my hair. Ok so I have navy carpet, but still.
