We keep deciding on a name..then changing our minds....over and over and over.....so do your duty, do it well.....help us out-we're too effing indecisive!!!

most of the names up don't have middle names...so suggestions are welcomed, too.

One thing I would like to piont out. If there is any chace at all that your child is going to be going to a public school in the coming years you might want to try a name that won't get the living shit kicked out of them. Otherwise your child will grow up angsty, maladjusted, paranoid and resentful of the world. What is in a name?

Of course, teaching the little devil martial arts by age 4 so as to enable it to beat the crap out of anyone who teases about the name is also an option.

actually, that was the plan......

I agree with Merc...I really don't want a name that is going to embarass the shit out of my son every time the teacher does a roll-call....I don't want him to grow up hating me and Trevor because we wanted to be "weird and different" and give him an extremely unique name.....maybe we'll just call him "boy" until he's old enough to choose a name for himself....hehehe. *joke*

Agreed.

Plus, I mean, naming your kid "Icarus"? Do you WANT him to fail at life?

Or "Trenton"? Have you ever been to Trenton? It's a shit-hole.

"Lucien" is right out, too, because let's face it, it's gay.

"Bastiaan"? Please. Just name him "Sebastian" if you're going to do that.

"Dominic" isn't bad, though. It's unique without being totally fucking ridiculous.

pretty baby

The choice of name aside, with you and Trevor as parents, s/he'll be a beautiful child. Congrats!

I think Icarus Alexander is cool, because he can go by Alex...so you still get the cool name.

Then again, anyone I've ever known named Dominic is a fucking moron, drug user, and as Jack put it prior ...a failure at life.

Sephiroth. :>

Seriously, if you really, really want to give your kid an odd/different/relatively unusual name, make it an unusual middle name. Lot's of people I've known have had unusual middle names, and they turned out fine.

And if they grow up and spontaneously decide they want to be 'different', well, there you go. They can just start going by their middle name, and maybe by then they'll be a well schooled badass to be able to put up with the shit they'll get for it.

I like Lucien.

I don't think kids with unique names turn out screwed up. My kids will have unique names.

Kids will make fun of kids regardless of what their names are. They will find something to go along with every name. It doesn't matter if you name the kid something 'normal' or not.

If the kid doesn't like their name, they can always change it. Which is something I've seriously thought about myself.

It's up to you two...whatever you feel works for the kid.

A person doesn't fail in life because of their name.

I like Lucien though....there is a character in some comics I adore named Lucien. He's a librarian. He is one of my favorite characters in the series. (Sandman, Dreaming)

Congrats to you both :)

If you're really set on those names, I say go for Trenton. At least then you can call him Trent, which is normal enough so he won't get his ass kicked. BTW, if you name him Icarus, he'll get the nickname 'Icky.' And I'm sure Bastiaan will become 'Bastard' once his schoolmates learn that word. You gotta think about these things!

what sucks is when you think you are giving your kids unique names then you realize they arent.

mine are Elexis Hazel - girl (lexi is hugely popular name now)

Ethan David - boy (ethan is popular too)

ah well..they respond well to 'hey you' so i suppose that's okay.

Icarus was the name of mine and Trevor's cat... (also a name Josh tends to use for his RPG character names.) Not that I mind it, I did pick it out for my cat after all, just a bit odd that he might choose that name for the baby. 8-)

Sometimes people don't pick their name out until after the birth, sometimes the parents have to see the baby before they can really decide what the child should go by. I wouldn't worry if you can't decide, most people can't decide. It's a good thing, atleast you're taking your time and not spouting off some random "top of your head" name. I had a pick for each trimester with this little guy, the only variation being the middle name though. It's hard to pick a good name to follow Vincent. I decided on Gabriel though.

someone mentioned earlier about martial arts at 4, and I completely plan on doing that. Not really for the intended purpose of "kicking other kids asses" if they make fun of his name, but rather to reinforce discipline and respect. So he won't end up a total hot head and in fights unless it's absolutely necessary...

Willem Dafoe's character in Plattoon is Sargeant Elias.
