Tell Congress to Oppose HR 1528

Congressman Sensenbrenner has proposed a new bill (H.R. 1528) that would increase jail time for posession of marijuana, and enforce a
2-year minimum sentence for even knowing someone who deals pot!
They want to increase penalties for every drug offense. They want a mandatory 2-year prison term for anyone who knows someone is selling marijuana on a college campus and fails to report it to the police within 24 hours. They want a mandatory 5-year prison term for someone at a party who passes a marijuana joint to someone who has been enrolled in drug treatment at some point in their life. They want to expand the federal "three strikes and you're out" law to include new offenses, including mandating life imprisonment (with no possibility of parole) for anyone convicted a third time under the RAVE Act.
This bill is ridiculous. Please go to
this website to learn more about how you can stop this from being passed. I urge everyone (smokers and non) to send a letter to our Representative (which you can do
here).

That is completely absurd. As if jails aren't crowded enough. My tax dollars sure as hell are not to go toward jailing non-violent potheads. I'll move to fucking Canada.
This bill can never pass.

How we have been stuck in this prohibition era mentality for as long as we have amazes me. That a harmless, non-addictive drug can remain illegal for so long, while alcohol and tobacco are allowed to run rampant is simple ignorance.
Look at the man who gets drunk every night and look at the man who gets high every night. One is probably not going to be capable of holding down a job.
Look at the man who smokes tobacco daily and the man who gets high daily. One is at very high risk for lung cancer.

I support this bill fully...It'll never get passed...& even if it does...It'll use a ton of my tax dollars...Oh, wait...have to pay taxes for that kinda stuff, huh?...I fuckin' hate potheads...Sure, there are alot worse types of people...But at least, I like a few crackheads, coke junkie, & heroin addicts in my time...Never found one pothead that I could stand while they where high...Rock on Machine of God...Rock on...

I would just like to state that for a good year, I was the guy that drank every night and managed to maintain my job. As a matter of fact, I am still there. Of course, it helped that I worked second shift at the time and didn't have to be at work until like 4PM. Then I got bored of drinking till I passed out. I failed at being an alcoholic.

I say legalize everything and let natural selection run its course.
As far as weed beind harmless I have to disagree to an extent. Yeah it more than likely doesnt hurt you any more than tobacco physically. Although I doubt your average person isn't smoking twenty joints a day. Also if it was legalized i'll bet everything I have corporations will fuck with it chemically until it is as bad as cigarettes are. Addiction....I believe certain types of people can form a mental addiction to marajuana. Worst of all though is in alot of people it removes their motivation.

Marijuana is bad, mmkay. But so is stupidity, and
that hasn't been made illegal. (If it were, I'd be making citizen's arrests all day, every day.)
If someone wants to get high, they should be able to. Just not around me. I don't hold smoking pot against people - at least they're not smoking crack. But I can't stand to be around it; I found that I'm allergic to the stuff, and don't enjoy having my nose bleed just so people can be stupid. If they want to be stupid around me, they can either drink, or have a broken nose; that way, we can both be stupid, and miserable.
But then, they could just make pot smoking sections or simply not allow smoking it in certain establishments. Seems to have worked fine with tobacco. No need for an outright ban on it. And hell, it's not like we couldn't use the tax dollars.

As for losing your job over drinking? Yeah, sure, I've heard of it happening. I call that, as blindboy so succinctly put it, natural selection. You've gotta be a real feeb to drink yourself into unemployment. If someone can manage that, then even if they didn't drink, they'd lose their job over something else. Like laziness. Or stupidity. Or both.
It's perfectly possible to drink a lot and keep a steady, respectable job. Unless you're stupid.
