Why, her autopsy of course.

I just find it sad and hypacritical that a woman can be starved and dehydrated to death, but her life cannot be taken by a simple and humane injection because of euthanasia views and physician hipocratic oath. Forgive all of the spelling errors. I don't feel like spellchecking today.

"Mrs Schiavo suffered severe brain damage in 1990 after her heart stopped because of a chemical imbalance that was believed to have been brought on by an eating disorder. Court-appointed doctors ruled she was in a persistent vegetative state, with no real consciousness or chance of recovery."

Anybody else find in odd that the thing that caused her brain damage in the first place was the thing that killed her in the end?

The Rev Jesse Jackson, the civil rights activist, joined a vigil outside the hospice yesterday to show solidarity with the Schindlers. "This is one of the most profound moral and ethical issues of our time. It transcends politics and family disputes," he said. "She is being starved to death. It's inhumane, it's immoral and it's unnecessary.

The Rev Jesse Jackson can eat my freshly soiled asshole.

actually i don't see that being that much of a big deal. i don't exactly consider her alive in the first place so her starving to death does not really bother me too much. however, the fact that euthanasia would be more expensive than leting her starve is something i have a problem with.

Would it really be more for a shot than 2 weeks of hospice care? I don't know that I could endorse "putting her to sleep," but it would have been far kinder than her parents keeping her body alive all this time to avoid losing the daughter they really lost 15 years ago. I think it was selfish as hell and she should have been allowed to die naturally way back then after reasonable efforts to save her failed.

Maybe now the poor woman will be at peace. This whole thing has been ridiculously drawn out and horribly public. The media absolutely rapes anyone of their last bit of dignity in the name of the "moral majority" . If anything ever happens to me, I have made it clear to my family I do not want to be kept alive that way. I even want to be cremated so no one has to look at my dead body at a memorial service.

What pissed me off....

was the story about the chick who's grandfather was at the same place...She got a call, saying to get there right away, her grandfather was dying. I don't remember how many minutes they said it took...but something like 5 or so...to get through all of the protesters, and three security checkpoints.

She was 60 seconds too late. Her grandfather had died.

They even searched her....wanded her and everything....

That's horrible.

I understand where you are coming from Karmakaze. I'm just thinking of if it were me. Why do other people feel the need to exert so much control over my life or lack thereof? Just imagine, if there was so much as a spark in you, lying there unable to communicate, unable to enjoy and partake in the things that actually make life worth living, as your parents coo over you like a baby for 15 years. Fuck the overdose of morphine, I'll take a couple of rounds in the head please. And I've put that shit in writing, along with the crematorium.

If anything of that sort ever happens to me...And no one follows through with my requests...I want someone to sneak like a ninja, into my room...& blast a couple into my skull...That would be fine, too...

The husband and family are fightening over how she will be "remembered," as NPR put it....

It's funny that someone's cremation is getting more air time than the Pope who is about to take his final breath...BY CHOICE of not recieving anymore medical treatments...

I just find it funny...

Kinda sad, too...

We were talking about that at work the other day. I was pissed though that I was actually off, and relaxing, and watching Judge Joe Brown, when they interrupted right before the verdict to tell me she died.

Yeah, that probably sounds mean but we knew it was coming.. they couldn't have waited to announce it... I didn't know her.
