Just for confirmation sake: Alt. as in alt. rock? Also, what exactly is defined as New Wave? Examples of artists? The rest I am familiar with and it sounds kick ass to me, but I just wanted to confirm the former. Yes, yes, it is a free night and I hate to be picky but I am from out of town so I still end up sinking quite a bit on money even into a free night when it comes to travel expenses. =P

I had a long involved post put togeather for defining music types without relating bands and well... It got LONG and winded, soo heres the short of it:
Alternative sound can range from Red Stripes to Jem, and a lot of side branches inbetween. Others? - Beck, Janes Addiction, Sarah Brightman, Smashing Pumpkins - Hope that helps
New wave.... Think New Order, Devo, Soft Cell, Eurythmics, Flock of Seagulls etc.

Here is the playlist from the first night on the 4th of Dec that might give you an idea what to expect. Some of this stuff is requests. We are trying to be very dancefloor friendly with stuff not commen to the Knoxville Dance Club scene.
I hope you'll get the Idea

See? It's like a Sanctus you don't have to dress up for. Less eyeliner, no cover, and more of the '80s, '90s, and now.

Why would you want to go to this when Temple is happening on the same night?

I went to both last week & will again for the next Saturday they overlap. I guess my reasons are that I really enjoy the music, the people, & various perks each venue provides. I think Jay said it best when he anounced how lucky we all are for having so many options & such a thriving scene. I like to support both nights all I can in hopes of having more problems like, "Gosh, which fun event shall I venture out to tonight?" These are good problems to have, IMO.

Also, for people who don't smoke, Urban is a little bit more convient. I mean, I will probably go to both, but in order to have both we must support both. Plus, its nice to be able to SPEAK to somone instead of scream at them in a club. I don't know, that's just my opinion...and I could be wrong.

I'm planning on going to both. Last time, I hit Temple early to hear all the DJs and then headed to Urban a little after midnight. I'll most likely do the same or reverse the order this weekend.

Thanks, Bone. Hmm. I'm going to have a couple of friends with me Sat. night that are "not so goth". More along the 80s, alt. rock persuasian. So I suppose Urban it is. Perhaps Temple later on in the evening.

Yeah, we need to support these things. We're currently more "happening" than Nashville, as all they have is Salvation every Sunday night. That's an amazing feat for Knoxville.
