Given that the World of Warcraft server just became nonresponsive, I'm guessing it's updating, or just did and got the first rush of server load as people started trying to sign up for the open beta. I'm guessing it's on people, for those of us who didn't get into the closed, it's time to see if it's going to be worth the money.. Let the downloads begin!

Bah, false alarm. Oh well, I'll keep this thread updated till I pass out.. Hopefully the beta opens before then.

Yeah, for anyone that's interested, looks like they put it up right after I conked out. Still got in though, but it was a pain in the arse. Still, go to it! And if you're in it already, post what server you're on!

I would just like to know if it is going to be worth getting.

That largely depends on your interests in gaming. I won't waste your time with a full description, my short answer, based on my own experiences, is a certain yes.

If you're interested in a more detailed rundown of the pro's and cons, the experience as a whole, and comparisons to other games, or have any specific questions, feel free to ask. I have lots of information to give, I just don't want to abuse people with it :P

Thank you. "How does it compare to the rest of the WarCraft line?" is the question I should have asked.

Very true in continuing the storyline. The characters are all accounted for, all of the storylines that developed in warcraft 3 are carried through and passed into the future. This is set some time.. i'm not certain precisely how much.. More than 5 years, less than 100, after Warcraft 3. It's an utterly different style of game, being an Everquest-style mmorpg. It's no RTS in any regard, but it's still a good bit of fun, and has alot of the classic Blizzard humor. Some in plain view.. the Orcs still say Zug-Zug and do a mean Chinese Typewriter.. and some tucked away in little corners that I"ll leave you to find for yourself :) So if you're really into the theme, the fiction of Warcraft, this is a great choice. If you're looking for a new RTS game that you can play on a much larger scale.. Sorry, keep looking.
