what do you boils and ghouls think about...

A bi-weekly social event at a martini bar on Wednesday nights?
I would be spinning, not mixing, old school gothic and dark ambient electronic music. Also thinking about bringing out a TV to play horror movies on a small stage.
The place is Europa at 603 N Campbell Station Rd in the shopping center where Mellow Mushroom and Earth to Old City are located. The place has a full wet bar and also serves various specialty dishes. It has a lovely dark atmosphere and is a very nice, clean establishment.
The event will start around 9:30 and go on until 1:00 or when everyone leaves. The idea is pretty much a martini lounge night, more laid back atmosphere where everyone can kick back, drink and socialize. Not a dance night or what have you. There would be no cover charge at the door.
There will be special drinks for us freaks, like Dirty Bong Waters and such. I'll give details as things come together.
We're going to get a trial night or two for this to see how it goes.
Any input as to those of you who would attend and any ideas as far as drinks/music/atmosphere would be greatly appreciated.

I love the idea of having a dark lounge night. IT would be great to have a night with much more of a lounge/chill atmosphere where people could just hang out. socialize and drink. I have been wanting a night like this for a while.

The idea is great, and I will try to be there. Congrats on putting the night together. However, someone needs to tell Europa to fix their ad. I saw it in the Metropulse today, and the ad doesn't say what day the night is on, and it says its from 9:30 PM - 1:00 PM. As much as it would be fun to go to an all night dance party, I doubt that's what they meant.

Thanks for the support.
Jay called and told me about the ad earlier. I wasn't aware they were going ahead with advertising this soon or anything about it. I'll make sure that the next ad has more specific and accurate info. Yeah, it's not an all night into the next day event, lol.
Ligeia and I are putting this event together, we're calling the night "Jupiter's Dream" I'll post the flyer in the Upcoming Events forum in the next couple of days.

The biggest interest for me is, quite sadly, the fact that food is available there. Can anyone provide a general idea of what they serve? Do they have a website with a menu (& link to mapquest maybe?) up?

Ooh, very nifty poster. Pardon my ignorance, but can I ask about the woman on the bull? Would that be Pasiphaë by any chance, riding the white bull? I can certainly see the connection, with the mediterranean theme you mentioned..
Excellent

Fantastic. I'm going to make every effort to come out for this, with work schedule and money being the reasons I might not make it. Everything about this sounds delicious... there hasn't been much to do mid-week since karaoke at The Panda went away, Mediterranean food IS the food of the gods (love me all that hard-to-spell fun-to-pronounce cuisine.) If you don't know what to order, ask advice from the Armenian in the long black coat! The poster is good art; kudos. Jupiter is associated with Thor and after midnight at the event it will be Thorsday, so it works from a Greek and Norse view. OK, I take it back, not everything is perfect about it for me, because it's "way out west" but I *bow* to bloodymerry's joy at being closer.
tabouleh, falafel, kebab, kosheri, faoul madumas, baba ganoush, hummous, dolmas, pilaf, greek salad, lamb.... mmmm
so maybe afterwaards we can sing "bloodymerry had a little lamb?" oooo... sorry...

Scarecrow also had a large hand in this. But none of us could have done it without the others. I just appreciate all the help on getting my little idea up and running. Thank you Zeo, thank you S'crow. Hope to see a lot of you there, I will be the waitress in fishnets

It sounds really nice, but I have classes on Thursdays, so Wednesday nights still require an early bedtime. Maybe in December when classes let out, though?
Congrats to everyone who organized this! Your community appreciates you!

Ah, he's no real down town goth! What would you say, Scorp, kinda sorta a Southside goth, but maybe too far out for that title. Hmmm...
I'm a north Knox old fogey goff, myself.

Actually its the Myth of Jupiter and Europa.....Hence the Bar's name and the name we chose for the night.

~As Europa spoke with her playmates the bull gently rose, and then suddenly leaped into the sea carrying Europa with him. The sea grew calm as Jupiter, carrying Europa with him, rushed through it. Long rows of dolphin-mounted nereids, from the older sea dynasty of Oceanus and Tethys, escorted the godly wedding train through the sea. Tritons, of the younger sea dynasty of Neptune and Amphitrite sounded marriage-music on their long tapered conch shells.
Jupiter and Europa finally came ashore on Crete, in the Aegean Sea. There Jupiter cast off his form of a bull, prepared a wedding bed beneath a simple cypress tree, and spent his wedding night there with the fair Europa.~
